Iran's primary way of threatening the US and its allies in the region is its inventory of about 2,500-3,000 ballistic missiles, US Central Command (CENTCOM) commander General Kenneth McKenzie told the Senate Armed Services Committee on 10 March.

Gen McKenzie did not breakdown the types of missiles that make up this arsenal but indicated most are shorter-range weapons when he explained why the US military is moving more assets to Prince Sultan Air Base (PSAB) in central Saudi Arabia.

"The beauty of that base is it is out of [the] short-range ballistic missile range of Iran but close enough for our various types of fighter attack aircraft to operate out of there. It is well defended and provides significant additional depth in theatre," he said. PSAB is 580 km from the Iranian mainland and is now defended by at least one Patriot air defence battery.

He confirmed that the US is also moving air defence assets to Iraq, where he said the US has around 5,000 soldiers deployed, to defend against Iranian ballistic missile attacks.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) attacked US personnel at Ain al-Asad Air Base on 8 January in retaliation for the assassination of Major General Qasem Soleimani, a high-profile IRGC commander who developed and directed pro-Iranian militant groups across the region.

While no Americans were killed and the confrontation then de-escalated, it subsequently emerged that over 100 US military personnel suffered traumatic brain injuries.

Gen McKenzie said that the US had established a "rough deterrence" with Iran since the 8 January attack, attributing this to the build-up of US forces in the region.

"There weren't many forces in theatre and the fact that the force density was so low was a major part of the Iranian calculus to act out in the kinetic sphere," he said.

Until you have the ability to hit any target globally these missiles are useless

So it seems the war is on. Another 20 years of "we killed this many terrorists" and then "we are withdrawing our forces".

Do they really think PSAB being 580km out from Iran is enough to protect them?

Most targets are within 300km range from Iranian border: most of Iraq/Kuwait/Qatar/UAE/ Eastern Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure.

If deployed in Syria, Tel Aviv is also within 300 km range.

So the most widely produced missile might be Fateh 110 and its derivatives.

Assuming Iran has 3000 ballistic missiles---question is: how many PAC2 and PAC3 they have in the ME?

According to this source, Saudi Arabia has 88 launchers of PAC2 and PAC3
https://bulgarianmilitary.com/2020/...sed-by-patriot-defense-systems-saudi-reports/

^^This is 352 interceptors...since they launch 2 interceptors per target--Saudi Arabia can intercept 176 ballistic missiles...Now assuming 40% success rate..Saudi Arabia can intercept only 70 missiles, which is nothing compared to Iranian arsenal of 3000 ballistic missiles

And now, according to this source
https://www.politykainsight.pl/en/politics/politicsofmemory/_resource/multimedium/20142001

Saudi Arabia (96 launchers)+ Qatar(44 launchers) +UAE(20 launchers) + Kuwait (40 launchers) have a combined arsenal of 200 launchers and 800 interceptors, capable of intercepting 400 ballistic missiles.... and assuming 40% success rate, they can intercept only 160 ballistic missiles together.

The same source says US has 480 launchers of PAC2 and PAC3--this is 1920 interceptors capable of intercepting 960 ballistic missiles and assuming 40% success rate -only 384 ballistic missiles

So even if USA will bring all of its ABM defenses to ME ---together with GCC they can intercept 384+160=544 missiles

Compared to Iranian arsenal of 3000 ballistic missiles.

So even in worst case, if Iran will have 544 of its ballistic missiles being intercepted---another 2400 ballistic missiles will hit their targets

Iran couldn't stop the rebels in Syria let alone chellenging anyone else they were overwhelmed by them despite putting massive ground troops on the land. A loud paper tiger that needs to be put out of it's misery

half of arsenal will be destroyed by air raids of u.s airforce and cruise missile attack of their submarines or ships

Air power was unable to destroy Hezbollah's arsenal of missiles in 2006 war...Air power was unable to destroy Saddam's arsenal of missiles during Desert Storm...isn't it a lesson to you? You think Iranians are that stupid to expose their missiles to US air power?

Try to destroy Iranian missiles when they are 500m underground

If 10 missiles in Ain-Al-Assad that were launched with no intention to do harm to US personnel, still injured 110 US soldiers...imagine what 2500 missiles can do.....

Hope Iran gets the number to 5000-6000 more advanced missiles by 2030

we had ... now with newer design and usage of composite and and cheaper material , we will build more .... although its look like the air force time is coming to be modernized ....
Better build vantilators.

I think you were slept when we were fighting and defeating ISIS and other rebels in Syria......and the paper tiger is the one who wanted to punish us in case of retaliation of Sardar soleimani martyrdom but didn't eat any shit....
