Iran gas pipeline to Pakistan on hold

India shouldnt be involved at all, there was news that some terrorists tried to blow up a pipe line in Balochistan.

India needs to look else where.

No where else to look apart from perhaps TAPI. Iran has one of the biggest reserves of gas in the world I support IPI but at the moment with the security in Balochistan its not going to happen either for India or Pakistan.

Realistic because it already has ADB funding in place not to mention it is seen as more viable for insurers who is gonna touch IPI when it comes to insuring the pipeline?

The Pipe Line from Iran via Pakistan is "more insurable" than the one from Turkmenistan via Afghanistan into Pakistan.

For India :

1. The Turkmenistan Pipe Line passes through two countries i.e. Afghanistan and Pakistan

2. The Iran Pipe Line passes through Only One Country.

For Pakistan :

A. The Turkmenistan passes through a third country i.e. Pakistan.

B. The Iran Pipe Line is has no Third Country to pass through as it is a Direct Pipe Line.

No one is going to insure IPI it does not have US support and is prone to international sanctions where as the TAPI already has ADB funding behind it as well the Russian backing and its gas giant Gazprom has expressed its willingness to participate in the consortium. The partner states have also suggested that Gazprom become a supplier for the pipeline along with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
