TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian Air Force commander announced that the country's defense industries has started research for manufacturing vertical climb aircraft with straight vertical flight.

"Studies are underway at the Defense Industries" for manufacturing this type of aircraft," Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) for Coordination Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh told reporters.

Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony here in Tehran on Wednesday, the commander stressed that IRIAF is now meeting its operational needs through constant interaction with research centers.

He underscored Air Force's preparedness to defend the country, and noted that the Air Force has already been equipped with the new generations of aircraft.

"We now possess new generations of aircraft, but we continue updating their electronic warfare, radars and smart ammunition," Nasirzadeh added.

The Iranian Air Force tested its defense capabilities in massive air drills, dubbed as 'Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat III', in Iran's Northwestern regions.

During the exercises which started on September 6, the Iranian Air Force fighter jets practiced electronic war operations and Iran's two well-known home-made fighter jets, namely Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) and Azarakhsh (Lightening) staged successful missions and bombed the specified targets under full radio silence.

Saeqeh and Azarakhsh were among the several squadrons of the Iranian Air Force fighter jets which conducted night raids on fixed and mobile targets under complete radio silence.

Different plane equipments, ammunitions and tactics went under test in the four phases of the exercises codenamed 'Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat III'.

An array of fighter jets, fighter bombers, cargo and transportation planes, including F-4, F-5, Sukhoi-24 (SU-24) fighter-bombers, Mig-29 and the logistic C-130 planes, were used in the exercises.

.
Its a great news.. but how far are Iran's current aircrafts in par with modern jets?

.
still there is lot of difference between the current Iranian tech level and the US modern aircrafts(the 4rth generation excluding the Stealth versions)....at least one to two decades of difference.....:smokin:

reseacrch.. takes time.. from researching to having a squadron running..

Sir do you know from where chinese have started and where they are today in science and technologie?
First ste is alway difficult then all is well...

it will be 5th gen fighter.im sure

I wish and hope it is 5th gen but from what we find in Iranian aircraft inventory, it seems bit stretched to imagine that Iran has mastered 4th generation technology and they are heading towards 5th one. India is a lot more resourceful and bigger but they still cannot produce 5th gen (although they are not able to produce something respectable 4th gen either). I wish and hope Iran would develop that but if I am realistic, this doesn't seem possible until 2020.

We wish if it could be 5th generation ...but my opinion says otherwise cuz for 5th generation it will take at least 5 years to build it after mastering the 4rth generation technology.I guess Iran is still unable to build the jet engines surpassing the speed of 1.5Machs for the aircrafts, India couldn't even develop that yet on its own......:smokin:

.
why not sir?we have produce AESA radars and high tech of jamming systems(as we testes on rq-170).also we have a platform of a stealth drone too(rq-170).we have produced iranian RD-33 too.
so lets hope this one is 5th gen fighter.

I will be very happi if Iran can get upto the 5th generation level.....:)
Let me know what kind of engine Iran is manufacturing for their aircrafts.Let me have specs for it(RD-33, Iranian version)..I mean weight to thrust ratios and what speed in machs will be etc etc...cuz the engine development is the most difficult part, even China is having some difficulties in it for our JF-17 project thats why we are still relying on the imported engines from Russia.....:smokin:
