Iran advises Pakistan not to allow US consulate in Quetta

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has advised Pakistan not to allow the United States to open its consulate in Balochistan province. The advice came in the wake of a trilateral summit between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan in Islamabad. Ahmadinejad said the establishment of an American consulate in Quetta could gravely jeopardise Iran’s national security, adding that such a move could fuel the activities of extremist groups such as Jundallah. Sources revealed President Asif Zardari discussed the Balochistan issue with his Iranian counterpart, and Ahmadinejad said for the sake of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries both sides would have to take a firm stance against foreign interference in regional issues.

suffice to say, given the current "dynamics" of the bilateral relationship with said country, I see no "consulates" in Balochistan anytime soon....in fact, even though Jundollah is an Iranian organization it has been reported in the news that Pakistan may plan an offensive, when the time is right.

being friends does and should not mean we share same interest, One thing US should understand is that its interest is not that of globe's and ours. Lets face it, US, Pakistan, China and Iran all face different interests and instead of yelling, US should try to work on common interests. When US tries to back stab Pakistan and NATO by negotiating with Talibans. This kills the purpose of whole bloody ten years. One day Obama wakes up to reality that taliban are not their enemy, who would pay for past 10 years and millions of lives which were silenced by this aggression? Probably something US would not bother answering. A country with foundation on encroached lands and blood and war driven economy. What else can you expect.

Please try to understand our concerns too. USA was harbouring one of Balochistan's most wanted terrorist in Kabul and facilitated his transfer to Switzerland. Thus, we cannot help but be skeptical regarding this consulate.
