Nice read, but dont really agree with him on Pres Zia and the events after the Soviet draw down in afghanistan. A lot of mess was created.

But still someone holding the rank of colonel in army should have enough sense to chose the right words at a right time.

its a pity that some elements of the interview can be blown out of proportion and interpreted for whatever reason. you can see the reaction of some Indian members here already crying blood over it and I agree any ranking officer would have sense to think many times before saying something which can be used against his institution and country.
the story of contaminating water supplies in Afghanistan during Soviet occupation is a news for me and shocking too because its the first time it has come out also his "claim" of waving Pakistani flag in Kashmir rallies actually brings the current Kashmiri struggle into question. although I did down play it because looking at those tens of thousands protesting videos and photos there are many people with flags and will be an attention magnet and attract the most wrath from Indian security forces. one has to be a dumb arse to hold a flag or placard in a rally against the occupation forces and also belong to a foreign country agency.
I sense a bit of misinformation and trolling in the interview as well but its just a passing thought.

1.The water poisoning incident must have been a tit-for tat. The Soviets were doing this routinely.
2. Back then it was perhaps necessary to directly involve in motivating the demoralized Kashmiris. It is quite different now. The Kashmiris do it themselves and quite openly practically everywhere in Kashmir.
