What's new

Insulting armed forces should be legally banned in Pakistan

Let's not forget the MQM death squads and all the wonderous courupt politicians and thugs then again most Pakistani pseudo liberals want to pin everything on Zia but Zia at the end of the day was a power hungry general who used everybody from moulvis to courupt politicians but the entire society, political and economic system from 1948-present has been rotten from the core
Yes.
All smugglers and terrorists on in Balochistan were sniped not arrested.
ANF had specially trained snipers.
Whoever harped enemy propaganda was arrested and jailed and there was peace.
What about now?
Even kids like you can go on internet and make Pakistan lose 1965 war and nobody can do anything about news anchors openly working for foreign agencies against Pakistan.

He saved Pakistan from Soviet occupation and we are thankful to him for that.
The thankless like don't even thank your parents. So no surprise here

Soviets had no interest in Pakistan affairs more of that warm water port bs

Tell me what's the current status of our frontier regions these days

I don't think we can insult anybody but satire, criticise, etc is absolutely fine. Enough of sedition law.
Both Mushi and Zia did good and bad... We couldn't control AK and heroine outburst may be bcz top influential leadership was gone. Anyway, creating MQM and reviving them in 2002 was worst after attacking tribal areas in 2001. Both the military operation and political settlement could have been managed better. It wd be better if Mushi aggressive and brute nature had been used against corruption and politicians than in military operations.

Who bought the 1965 conflict here

About MQM.
It was originally created to stop Karachi being taken over by Sindhi nationalists under Jiey Sindh and ANP , both of whom were working under Indian instructions.
It served its purpose.
Also since you are young, you don't know what type of hell Karachi was turned into by Benazir in the late 80s and mohajir felt insecure and needed MQM.
Read about Pucca Qila Massacre.

why criticize army? its our state institutions but we can surely criticize establishment

I dont think the Soviets would have entered Pakistan or occupied it would have been very difficult no.1 China back then despite being Communist deeply resented the Soviets especially after 1962 war with India that the Soviets backed also it was late 1970s that US-Chinese ties became a de facto alliance China was also starting to equip Pakistan much more too and the main reason why the Karakourum Highway was built was in case of a Soviet incursion the Chinese could assist no 2 the US would probably get dragged in WW3 so I dont think Moscow would have gone in with tanks into Pakistan the problem was is and always Afghanistan these mofos are the reason why we have problems they switched masters from Soviets to American

Jiey Sindh and ANP
They were never the threat.. It was to break Jamat hegemony. Army had already curbed Zolfiqar movement so JASQM etc were neither the threat nor they could step in Karachi. ANP could.

That's what you think now in 2020.
But in 1979 Soviet Union was expanding and gobbling up any state they could or make them a satellite state.
Obviously you are making assumptions , but we in 1979 were genuinely scared of wearing tall furry hats, and Changing my name of Safrizof

Either you have a democracy in which criticism, taunts and insults against political figures and institutions is allowed, or you don’t.

The example you cited is of a school board firing someone, not the state or federal government outlawing speech. US free speech is protected by the first amendment. I can also sit here in London and very freely insult the queen. In fact there was an old Labour MP Dennis Skinner who made a tradition of insulting the queen or her representative while sat in the chamber.

You should be able to criticise, ridicule and insult any politician/party/institution in Pakistan, including the army. As for the argument that the army is apolitical, the hilarity of that statement aside, one should also be able to criticise departments and institutions too. If one can make fun of NAB, SBP, etc, same should apply to the army.

Soviets did not gobble states they did what their American counterparts do or any world or regional power does support proxies and put in place their puppets I mean that was the whole Cold War.

They were a threat. Mohajir students could not get admission anywhere outside Karachi and not even in many colleges of Karachi as occupied by Sindhi student Union.
But you are right in saying that Jamiat was also very popular among mohajirs at the time and that too needed to be dealt with.

Soviets did not gobble states they did what their American counterparts do or any world or regional power does support proxies and put in place their puppets I mean that was the whole Cold War.
Again, that's what you are assuming in 2020.
Things and public perception of Soviet Union was very different in 1979 and the 80s and people were scared.

Nope. Soviet would have. There were welcoming communist peopel in Pakistan. Plus read history how from 1800 they have captured central asia. or how Russia has taken Ukarine, Cremia and Georgia.
You could also see Nehru family was communist/socialist type, Bhutto was. Even east bengal (BD), Assam, Nagaland still today have communists popular. Also see Naxalite movement.. They are communist too.. I bet Soviet have swallowed entire sub continent if they had succeeded in Afghanistan.

Hello spectators, In this thread you can watch:
All knowing righteous intellectuals are talking about everything else but not topic.
Also take tips on how to prove whether someone was either good or bad human through "Funeral pictures"
Free Pakistan history lessons from 1947 and who and what was right and vice versa.

Please don't expect objective dialogue and answers to crucial questions like:
How and what would define "insult" in legal terms?
How are lines of freedom of expression and crossing that lines defined around the world, based on case studies and religious background?
Is insulting head of or board of governor of institution etc. same as insulting institution? should it be included?
How the law of act would comply with existing constitutional rights already defined?

Oh sorry I didn't know we are all here to waste time and misplace frustrations and personnel opinions.
Bye.

Afghanistan from day 1 of independence has been a pain in the a..s for us the communists did not take over till like 1978 the monarchy was anti communist yet they were funneling weapons and proxies from 1947-mid 1970s and also the King of Afghanistan never recognized the borders or our own country man screw Afghanistan

@Joe Shearer

You are referring to the Imperial Russian Empire in the 1800s which is ages ago but in 1979 USSR was in competition with the US and China Afghanistan from the get go was a massive mistake for them I agree no do I condone their actions but it was never going be easy at all
