INS Teg calls at Salalah port
SALALAH — INS Teg, the latest ship of Indian Navy, called on Port of Salalah on Friday and is to leave for its next destination tomorrow. She was commissioned on April 27 at Kaliningrad, Russia. The state-of-art, stealth frigate with its formidable arsenal has a combination of diverse weapon systems which includes the Brahmos missile system.

Addressing a press conference on board yesterday, Ship Captain Rakesh Kumar Dahiya and A D Nayar, Defence Attache Indian Embassy, said Teg reinforces the growing strength of the Indian Navy and considerably extends the Blue Water capability of the Indian Navy"s fleet. “The ship"s crest embodies two crossed swords against the blue sky and ocean waves which symbolise strength, responsibility and commitment to a righteous cause,” said Captain Dahiya.

“The ship can also embark and operate an anti-submarine or an early warning helicopter Kamov 31, as a dominant force multiplier,” he said. Captain Dahiya is a Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist. The ship’s specially incorporated design features ensure reduction in radar cross section, infrared, magnetic and acoustic signatures and enhance the ship"s stealth capability.

Yes India has very good relations with Oman especially in the Miltary forum- IAF and ROAF have frequent joint exercises with Jaguars and other fighters as well as Oman giving the IN berthing rights in the nation- an offer only a few nations have been given and the INSAS, yes the INSAS, is being adopted as the standard AR for the Omani Army (if you can believe it!!)!!

Hi,
I have opened a thread asking for any pic of INSAS in omanian service or any non-indian source reporting the news.

Well just because you can't obtain photographic proof doesn't mean the news is untrue, far from it. Even though today a great deal of information is pubic ally available on the interests, not EVERY little scrap of info will be along with corresponding pictures. For instance we are told the Arjun Mk.2 is currently undergoing trails in Pokram and that IAF MIG-29UPGs are now in service, we haven't seen pics of either but is that to say these don't exist or news reports are untrue?? NO! Just because no source has snapped a pic of an Omani soldier with an INSAS does that mean they don't use the INSAS? NO!! As far as I can see there isn't a hugs amount of material on Omani forces as is so it is easy to see why there aren't any pics of them with INSAS as offer nhs in said that yu don't know what's lieing on some guy's hard drives so all I'd say is watch this space.

Peep into India's naval warships

Muscat: Indian naval ship INS Viraat will be opened for Omani and Indian nationals from 10am to 4pm tomorrow (June 22).

Visitors to the ship have to carry proof of their identity.

Visitors have also been requested to park their vehicles at Jibroo yard and collect coupons for entry into the port. Coupons will also be available on Indian School Darsait premises. Shuttle buses would be available for visitors to ferry them to the ships from the parking area.

India-Oman relations are exceptionally close, having reached the level of a strategic partnership and it is in this framework that Indian naval ships will be making a port call to Muscat between June 21 and June 23.

The ships coming to Muscat include aircraft carrier INS Viraat, stealth frigate INS Talwar and indigenously built guided missile frigate INS Ganga. These three ships are part of the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy. Captain AB Singh, VSM, Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier INS Viraat is the Officer in Tactical Command for this Carrier Task Group.
