Nope P-8Is will fly from Goa/Mumbai/Gujarat and still be be able to map Arabian Sea for hours during ASW mission. Kamorta class ASW corvette and S-70B on board Kolkata class will do their part.Nuke sub, cough cough! Carrier that hides during wars? The CVGN capability is only getting realistic in IN now. Please stop the flag waving and piss on the wall contest.
The warship signifies many indigenous systems from India, which signifies the enabling maturity of the Indian defence industry.
Is P8 going to operate from INS Kochi? Does it have any range or fuel considerations? Does it fly fast or slow? Is it a target itself?
Neutral argument is that both IN and PN diesel electrics will have impunity from all the systems you mention, due to the difficult sound propagation characteristics of the Arabian sea. All the surface platforms, the current one included, will be targets only.
And about submarine part, they have their sets of limitations too like they are slower so can't chase or catch up a surface warship and rather have to wait and watch it to come close that too with a hope of not being detected. Not to forget if warships passes from more than say 50 kms, It can't do nothing unless it risks getting itself detected by chasing.
One has to understand that both submarines and surface warships have their sets of advantages and disadvantages. One simply can't counter everything by submarine or vice versa.
