In recent times, when PAF acquires an aircraft, it either makes a facility for maintenance/over haul of components or rebuild factory. Secondly, PAF slowly starts to increase the numbers. We have seen this with F-6, A-5, F-7P/PG, Mirage III/V and F-16.

If PAF goes for SU-35, it wont stop at 40, it will keep increasing the numbers at some later stage and probably make a facility for atleast components maintenance however the induction of any 5th gen aircraft may get delayed.

I am betting here that if India chooses any US fighter jet like F16/F18 then Pakistan in all probability will get Su35 under a line of credit arrangement for a 20year low interest loan...

Russia will play smart surely and will tell India since you can buy American fighters so Pakistan can surely buy Russian flankers... And there won't be any restriction of engines , weapons etc..

They will term all other relations with India is still strategic but will open the pathway to Pakistan defence market. Then the onus is on Pakistan how to widen it further. Bcz you folks can get much more with strengthening of economy and paying some hard cash to Russians..

To be honest you are spot on. Any US fighter sale will give the Russians the green light. I'm not quite sure how the US would react to this.

The news does not say that the deal has been finalized yet
Plus the Russians will never sell us the AL41 engines because of Indian lobbying. Most likely the deal will involve just the airframes

We still have zero indication that an official confirmation is coming. All we know is that the Su-35 was discussed at some point, but I'd also wager that so was the Typhoon and perhaps the J-10.

I'd wait, if I were you, before calling victory.

I continue to believe that PAF will be looking at a next gen option only. The only role I can see for the Su-35 is maritime security.

I think he means the rest of the fighter, but with a different engine.

Personally, I don't see the point, as the engine is the biggest attraction of the Su-35.

Based on one brief article, sourced from a source that has a tendency to exaggerate? And the key source of this information is the Pakistani Ambassador who quoted ACM comments that he had "fruitful" talks? No Russian source was quoted in the article.

From having "fruitful" talks to actually getting Su-35 is long path indeed.
