Information Pool & Analysis on Pakistan's AF Aspiration for Su-35 / Su-35S - FLANKER-E

When the deal is inked then we will be happy.

All you do is ctrl+c & ctrl+v.

All facts indicate that your ambassador has no idea what he is talking about.
He said the PAF touched base with Russia on the issue in July. If you think that indicates his lack of knowledge on the issue, then that's your opinion (albeit a dismally weak one), and it's your right to retain it.

However, don't present your weak opinion as fact. After your misquoting shenanigans (on this very thread), you're not in a position to be taken seriously for facts. So please, don't waste any more time trying.

As for myself, I comment on the news. If people don't like it, they can move on. If they do like it, then great. That's really all there is to what I do and there's nothing wrong with it.

However, you have a real problem. Just look at your posts until now. You literally started by using a misquoted transcript as truth, and when corrected, you moved onto providing opinions based on assumptions. For the sake of those around you, I hope this is not a reflection your character in the real world. It's quite shameful to be honest.

Sukhoi-35 is one of the best 4.5th gen platform available, congratulations.
they also cost around 70 million a pop, I don't see them(pak) buying a whole lot even if they could afford to fork out the dough for a few.

Pakistan Air Force Chief of Staff had fruitful talks in Moscow in July on purchasing of Russian Su-35 fighter jets.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force Sohail Aman had "fruitful talks" in Moscow in July on purchasing of Russian Su-35 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) fighter jets, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Qazi Khalilullah told Sputnik. "Chief of Air Staff Marshal Sohail Aman had fruitful talks with the Russian partners on this issue in July," Khalilullah said answering a question on whether Islamabad could purchase the Su-35 aircraft. PAKISTAN HOPEFUL OF STRONGER DEFENCE TIES WITH RUSSIA
Pakistan’s new ambassador to Russia, Qazi Khalilullah, held a press conference with the Russian media on Monday (05 September, 2016). RIA Novosti’s Tatyana Kalmykov interviewed Mr. Khalilullah, and had discussed a range of issues pertinent to Russian-Pakistani ties, including defence and security.

Khalilullah noted that Russia will be supplying Pakistan with Mi-35 assault helicopters, which Pakistan had ordered in August of last year. It is believed that the Pakistan Army may require up to 20 Mi-35s in total.

When asked about the Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s reported interest in the Sukhoi Su-35, Khalilullah stated that the PAF Chief of Air Staff (CAS) was had held “fruitful talks” during his official visit in July, and since then, the PAF had “considered various options for deepening cooperation with Russia.”

Khalilullah concluded that he was unable to offer additional specific details or information in regards to possible or potential arms acquisitions. But in response to an earlier question, the ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s hope to strengthen its defence ties with Russia, be it arms acquisitions or other fields.

Notes, Comments & Analysis:

It has been exactly one year since reports emerged of Pakistani interest in the Sukhoi Su-35. To date, no clear or official confirmation from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has been provided, though several sources have claimed that interest is – or at least was – genuine. For example, a senior Pakistani official apparently confirmed to IHS Jane’s in 2015 that talks between Pakistan and Russia for the Su-35 did take place.

In the aftermath of the U.S. Congress refusing to release Foreign Military Financing (FMF) support for a proposed sale of eight F-16C/D Block-52+, Pakistan’s Defence Secretary Lt. General (R) Muhammad Alam Khattak noted that France and Russia were being examined as alternative sources for new fighter aircraft.

However, the PAF had only confirmed its plans to continue developing the JF-17 Thunder, and in time, to finalize itsnext-generation fighter requirement. Besides this, used or surplus F-16s from various sources, such as Jordan, may be procured to help fill capability gaps in the short-term.

Although the PAF has not offered any official word on this issue, it would be disingenuous to suggest that there is no value in the PAF having a heavier and longer-range platform to augment the JF-17, at least in the short and medium terms (i.e. before the introduction of the next-generation platform).

For example, retired PAF Air Commodore Kaiser Tufail had argued (via Defense News) that the advent of Gwadar would require the PAF to expand its maritime coverage. With its twin-engine configuration, long range, and heavier payload, the Su-35 would fit that role.

In another sense, one could also position the Su-35 as a capable strike fighter, one the PAF could heavily arm with stand-off range weapons and even air-launched cruise missiles. Comparatively infrequent and specialized roles such as strike or extended-range patrol suit the platform type of the Su-35, which would generally have a longer turnaround time between flights, a lower availability rate, and costlier operational costs than the JF-17 or F-16.

If configured with a powerful radar and robust electronics warfare (EW) and electronics countermeasures (ECM) suite, the Su-35 could also act as a force-multiplier agent, one that could even operate in concert with the JF-17 (by providing long-range air-to-air coverage; serving as a quasi airborne early warning or AEW platform; or engaging as a stand-off jamming platform).

It could be the case that the PAF has established contact with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Russia’s overarching aircraft manufacturing vendor. However, the best case scenario at this stage would be one of cursory interest and preliminary discussion. Irrespective of media or even official government claims, the PAF is, ultimately, the most authoritative source for information on its plans, which have yet to mention the Su-35 (or any other fighter besides the JF-17, F-16, and next-generation platform).

He busted himself after admitting he has no information on acquisition of military hardware thus showing his total lack of knowledge.

Your so called defence analysis has even less value than troll threads on 4chan.
He responded to the question by stating that the PAF had gotten in touch with the relevant parties, and that the PAF was considering its options. As he couldn't offer specifics, he concluded his point. Now if he was sounding off about some PAF plan for Su-35s with an induction time frame and cost figure, only to say he didn't know the specifics, then yes, he would have disqualified his authenticity.

PS: You can carry whatever opinion you want about my content. I'd care, but in as far as the world is concerned, your opinion on the subject doesn't matter. It never mattered. It will continue to not matter. But the fact that you misquoted the transcript and paraded it as fact, that isn't going to go away. You're either incompetent, or you're a liar. Either way, your opinions aren't facts, and the facts you do convey need to be checked and corroborated.

there we go again

no way PAF is going to get anything new as we have no money, its not early 2000s when a military commander became the president

a new su 35 would mean a whole set of new weapons and overhauling setup

A person who says that he has no information is an indication to not take his statements at face value.
He didn't have specific information, but he had enough to know the PAF touched base with Russia on the issue. That is a general point to make, and it is something one could expect to see the PAF communicate to other government bodies.

Any mention of defence ties with Russia arouse a lot of panicked responses from the indians. The moment india signs the Rafale deal or another deal, they are going to find out they are not exclusive Russian customers anymore.

This is one hell of an aircraft. Good luck to pakistan if they manage to BUY a few, though.Russia is definately not going to subsidize it. and it would need a complete setup for maintainence, servicing etc. Still, i would say, go ahead. This is an awesome aircraft to have.

Not a good choice inducting a plane Indians have in the hundreds. Best possible outcome for PAF is the Eurofighter which will bring a totally unknown factor to the equation and which will compliment the F-16s. Even the JF-17 fleet could gain through this deal by employing some of the subsystems of the Eurofighter. Plus the Saudis fly this jet in the dozens.

This SU-35 deal of it ever happens is more of a bait than anything else.
