Pakistan Have funds to afford such purchase.
PAF was reluctant towards F16 because its package was offered with whooping price tag.
70 Million per aircraft which is too much for even Block52.
That is why plan was to buy 10 more F16 only if when 40% price of first batch of 8 will be funded by USA.
Money was never the issue.

I see Pakistan is flushing with funds, just few months back they can't able to pay unsubsidized f 16s now looking for s 35 and 37, just ask Chinese counterparts how much Su 35 costs

I think the disagreement about F16 C/D was mainly about certain financial program incentives which we were entitled to. The F16 C/D was not a favorable buy for that price tag.

Also it was not ideal since the FMS program assistance was not available, as how it was described to us in Past

For that kind of Money we would buy a Rafale or Typhoon or Sukhoi-35

Obviously if the FMS program was valid and available , we could have been ok with 30-40 F16 C/D but it did not work well due to lack of support

Hopefully the congress folks can do more to help facilitate sales

F16 C/D do have fans on board and in airforce but the FMS program made it more attractive without it , it was a bit heavy on the asking price (over priced) is the word

Ultimately , it would be congressmen that pushed us into a none F16 C/D platform

The news does not say that the deal has been finalized yet
Plus the Russians will never sell us the AL41 engines because of Indian lobbying. Most likely the deal will involve just the airframes

after invasion of Ukraine the Russian are facing sanctions from European countries and Now India wants the role of US Watch Dog against China. Russian wants more defence deals and after Russian RD-93 engine for JF-17 ignored Indian opposition Russians are setting up Russian Engine overhauls facility at Kamra after successful deal of Mi-35M the Indian opposition for SU-35 deal in context to Russia is no more affarmative.

Nothing as Su-37 exists, it was Su-35 S with few advanced subsystems. Similarly, when the Russian pitched in the Indian MRCA competition, nothing like Mig-35 existed, it was Mig-29 OVT.

Su-37 is either a journalism error, or media sensationalism.
