Induction of Balochistanis in Pak Army - All News

As far as I know Army has percentages of different classes basing on area. Different classes get promoted according to their allocated percentage. I think the system is very fair and and beneficial for classes like Sindhis and Balochies cause they are promoted in very less service. I have heard that army has further distributed it induction down to district level. This means even induction from all provinces. Anyone can confirm it or otherwise?

You have taken it in wrong perspective.

I mean in India all those who were involved in Insurgencies like in North East or Kashmir who gave up their Arms then joined the Army or the Police.

Don't you have the BLA?:azn:

May be in India you may have this case. You have so many insurgencies in India it is possible that the former insurgents join IA or security forces in numbers. Anyways BLA doesn't even have 400 thugs let alone 4000 who will join PA. These guys are the proud sons of this soil who have no past of militancy and want to fight against the enemies of their province and their country.:)

Mengal is the tribe in Balochistan, just like Bugti and Marris, and a lot of their members as well as some of the tribal elders are in the anti-state activities, presently as well as in the past. So, this guy from this tribe by joining the army has given a good reply to the ones who are doing anti-state activities and to us that they all are not like the ones who are traitors.

Attaullah Mengal and Akhtar Mengal, rings a bell.

Kohlu comes under this tribe's domain.

The guy is a Major and from AC. He was still chosen to lead the parade for the symbolic value.

Recruit Nadir Khan appears to be a boxer, I don't know why I have this feeling.

10 thousand Baloch youth to be inducted in Army: Lt. Gen Javed Zia

QUETTA, Oct 29 (APP) - Commander Southern Command ,Lieutenant General Javed Zia has said that about 10 thousand Baloch youth would be inducted in Pakistan Army.

Talking to media after the passing out parade of 4000 Baloch youth here at EME center in Quetta Cant, he said that Pak Army was making strives to recruit the maximum number of youth from Balochistan.

“As many as 4000 jawan have passed out only today, who would join Pak Army he said, adding we have planned to induct 10 thousand youth from across the Balochistan. He recalled that due to the measure taken by the Army number of people representing Balocistan in Army has increased manifold.

He noted that on the special directives of Chief of Army Staff General Ashafaq Pervez Kiani, Army was giving special concession to the people of Balochistan in terms of age and education so that maximum recruitment could be carried out form the province.

He maintained that people from Balochistan are also being given choice to opt the areas where ever they want to serve in Pakistan . He urged the youth to come forward and join Pak armed forces as country needs the son of soil from Balochistan for its protection.

Great news for Pakistan Army and Pakistan! This will for sure boost high morale among the youth of Balochistan. They will have some good oportunities to do career and have a bright future. Army job is among the honorable jobs, atleast in case of Pak armed forces it's a very honorable job!

Balochistan needs immediate and effective attention. Period. Not because it is about to secede or even that any secession movement there can succeed; it can’t. Balochistan needs to be dealt with because the province has got a raw deal all these decades and, unless the healing touch is applied, it will – in some ways already has – become a diabetic case. The cost of governing it is rising and will continue to rise unless measures are taken NOW.

Most important is the human aspect. The Baloch have suffered, at the hands of the federal and provincial governments as well as – and this must not be lost sight of – their own sardars and chieftains. The reprisals have now come to haunt innocent Punjabi families, most of which have lived there for decades. They are being targeted, killed mercilessly and forced to leave.

Many have left, selling their properties at a pittance to Pashtun businessmen. And yet, some have returned because they cannot find place in their own province, Punjab, or in Karachi.

The Aghaz-e Haqooq-e Balochistan Package, announced by the federal government with fanfare last year, lies dormant. The provincial government is criminally neglectful of its remit and its people. Baloch sub-nationalists want the province to go from bad to worse. Reason: the worse it gets for the province the better it gets for their cause. The Taliban and their affiliate sectarian groups continue to operate and kill, mostly, the Shia Hazara community. The Sunni Jandallah, fighting the Shia clerical state of Iran, by many accounts, has linked up with some sectarian religious groups. And, finally, there are the criminal gangs involved in target killings and kidnappings; most, say people in Quetta, are backed by some provincial politicians.

As I wrote elsewhere, “Balochistan doesn’t like Punjabis, Shias and security forces. If one belongs to any of these three categories, one can likely end up dead. Punjabis and security forces are targeted by Baloch terrorist groups, Shias bombed by extremist terrorists. Caught in the conflict are journalists, threatened by all sides, some assassinated, others getting killed on the job.

“Right in Quetta, the capital, areas like Sariab, Huddah, Brohi Road and Eastern and Western Bypasses are ‘no-go’ areas for Punjabis. Much of the city, outside the heavily-guarded cantonment area, is dangerous for security personnel. Since 2009, nearly a thousand people have been killed on all sides and about double the number injured in assassinations, bombings, armed attacks and small-scale security operations.”

In the middle of this chaos, the army is trying to do some development work and also attract the Baloch youth. On Oct 29, I was in Quetta again, second time in less than two months. Baloch recruits were passing out, the highest number so far to be inducted in various arms and services of the Pakistan Army. The army is also identifying young Baloch children, boys and girls, and sending them to top schools across the country. It has placed a battalion to protect work at the Chamalang coal mines and created a system whereby the money is ploughed back into the area for development.

The Baloch sub-nationalists are trying to thwart these efforts because it is in their interest to ensure that nothing positive gets done. The families of children whose education is being funded by the army are threatened; recruits who have joined the army have had to face threats — some kidnapped, others killed, some left. But many stayed and are now in the army. This is the situation where one has to chinwag and use the threat of force simultaneously to make one complement the other.

These positive steps, while important, still fall short of what is required: a political solution which has the full participation of the provincial government. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, after the Quetta parade, told the press that the establishment had not mandated him to talk to the sub-nationalists. Really? So, what is he doing being the CM if he requires the nod of the ‘establishment’? Also, why are civilian principals not taking responsibility for what needs to be done?

Baloch terrorist groups will do whatever it takes to make their cause work. But the provincial and federal governments have to ensure that the issue is solved within the federal framework. They have yet to act.

Immediate action needed in Balochistan

This is unacceptable. If it is true that BLA terrorists are threatening the families of the new recruits than a strong action should be taken against them.

Thousands of them are already serving, but additional numbers would be another boost.

Army as said above is doing their part, thousands should now be inducted into the civil admin sector also, in govt jobs.

They need real jobs in all sectors where they themselves are paid by government. Sardars like Bugti were getting pay for fixed number of people, where as only few used to come on so called work and were paid by Bugtis not more than 20% what Bugtis were getting from government.

Attaining another milestone

With 10,000 recruits belonging to various parts of Balochistan Province still undergoing basic Military training, passing out parade of 4,000 Baloch recruits was held in five cities of the province on October 29, 2010. This bulk recruitment and passing out, is indeed a historical occasion for these newly inducted soldiers, their families and for the province. More than, anything, this bulk induction of the soldiers from the far-flung remote areas of the Balochistan Province is matter of pride for Pakistan Army and the federation of Pakistan. The major reward of this decision of massive recruitment followed by successful training of the Baloch youth goes to the Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, who conceived and implemented this unparalleled idea. Indeed, he is a man of wisdom and farsightedness. Under his command, Pak Army is touching the heights of professionalism and national service.

The simultaneous conduct of passing out parade of 4,000 soldiers in Quetta, Khuzdar, Sibbi, Sui, and Zhob is indeed a first event of its kind. Governor Balochistan, Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, alongwith Chief Minister and Commander Southern Command was the chief guest of the parade in Quetta. Most of the provincial ministers and people of the province attended the ceremony. The event was widely appreciated by the people of Balochistan. While emphasizing on the need of promoting the national harmony against the global conspiracies, the Chief Guest (Governor Balochistan) said that, “induction of Baloch youths into the army would help improve socio-economic conditions of the province which had been ignored in the past. It should have been done much earlier.”

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Pak Army for this massive recruitment, and provision of quality training to the Baloch youth and hoped that, “induction of thousands of Baloch youths into the army would bring about positive changes in the province. Indeed, it was a great moment for the province to see its youths becoming part of the army. These youths have received training which will enable them to meet internal and external challenges faced by the nation. The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani stressed on the newly inducted recruits to, “sustain the trend to strengthen the federation and frustrate the evil designs of enemies of the country.”

On this occasion, Pak Army announced to convert its cantonment at Sui as the Education City for the youth of the Province. Induction of this substantial number of the recruits in Pak Army is in fact the continuation of its drive for the promotion of national integration. Previously also, a large number of youth from various parts of Balochistan, Sind, FATA, and other remote areas of the country were inducted into Pak Army. Indeed, Pak Army has worked out a strategy to induct the youth from each district of the country, thus giving them equal opportunities to grow in this profession.

This is a great step forward to bring the people from all over the country at one platform without discrimination. Men of Pak Army are massively involved in the developmental projects in the remote areas of Balochistan, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. For the safety, security and the comfort of the people of Pakistan, the valiant sons of Pak Army have given sacrifices of over 3000 men and officers during the ongoing anti-terror drive. They are committed to defend their motherland and their people at all costs.

Along with the safety and security of the geo-graphical and ideological boundaries of the country, the other significant lesson taught to a soldier in his basic military training is the national integration. During the peacetime and while dealing with the internal disturbances, Armed Forces of Pakistan have always maintained this spirit of national service. They consider it as part of their duty to maintain the national integration and public service. In the recent past, Armed Forces of Pakistan have bravely fought against the militants and freed the people and areas under them. They were first to provide rescue and relief services during earthquake-2005 and devastating floods-2010. Filled with the spirit of national service these men donated a portion of their salaries for the affected people. They distributed rations to these people out of their own authorised scales. In the same way, men in uniform have made their utmost effort to serve the nation and internally promote national integration among them.

About national integrity, the famous philosopher Sallust says, “By union the smallest states thrive, by discord the greatest destroyed.” We have the example from the disintegration of the former Soviet Union with piles of nuclear arsenals but frail national sentiments on one hand and sustenance against Israeli might by a handful but united Hizbollah on the other. The process of national integration indeed includes; achieving national cohesion, stability, prosperity, strength, and feelings of being united as a nation. Unfortunately, in its history, Pakistan has faced varying degrees of religious, ethnic, linguistic, and political problems that are often in conflict with our national interest. The aspect needs a very serious attention at the level of Federal Government. As far as the Balochistan is concerned, ever since the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the Province has remained neglected on one account or the other. The major problem has the traditional Sardari system in the Province. These sardars (feudal), have been running the successive provincial governments, but did not pay attention towards the betterment of the people of the province. Resultantly, there has been dearth of basic necessary facilities needed for the human beings.

Owing to the lack of educational facilities, the people of the province could not be reasonably educated, thus lagged behind, compared to their counterparts in other provinces. Since education brings in awareness for the demand of other necessary facilities of life, therefore, the masses of the province did not have a wind of those. Perhaps this was a deliberate effort of a small minority of the province, the sardars, ruling the vast majority of deprived people to use them as tools for their nefarious designs. These sardars used these poor masses as dissidents and insurgents against Federal Governments for their vested interests as and when required. Resultantly, the poor living conditions of the common Baloch turned into most awful. These cunning sardars then further exploited this situation to provoke them to become anti-state. Indeed, their poor economic conditions made them hostage at the hands of these cruel and selfish sardars.

Due to the activities of these sub-nationalists, the state of Pakistan suffered badly. Its economy, national cohesion, and global standing was seriously affected. With the tremendous changes at the global level, these backward and ill-informed people of the Balochistan Province also desired a change in their lives. They have now reached to a thoughtful process that it was the horde of few feudal (sardars), which were keeping them as hostage. Now these poor masses of the Balochistan have decided to part ways from them and have started thinking for the future of their generations and the Province too. These betrayed sardars have also started realizing that they have been unjust in their treatment with the people of the Province and were used by foreign powers for their vested interests.

With these realizations, there has been gradual improvement in the law and order situation of the Province. The Federal Government package for the development of the Province would further improve the living standards of the rural areas of the province. Indeed, it is primarily the responsibility of the Federal and Provincial governments to promote the national integration and harmony among the masses.
