Indonesia, Turkey team up to develop military drones

India has never had any problems with aerodynamic design of the drones.
India's challenges when it comes to drones has been sensors, seekers and actuators and most importantly miniature turbofan engines-

On a side note - When a pdf Pakistani makes statements about India drones, its always a rule of thumb to verify that person's intellect and maturity. Which can be determined by checking the posts made (like one below) and childish fanboy threads opened.

I openly said that it is hypothetical scenario. Hyopthetical scenarios are often ran in military spheres and think tanks to assess threat levels and to devise strategies based on such asseassessments

Interesting thing in the article is

1. Muslim country
2. Dependence on west.

People globally are waking up to American and western bull. Turkey and any other Muslim countries that invest in high tech will make lots of money and losers will be the west die to Trump like policies.

All I say is America.....enjoy Israel and the Arabs for short time

Aside from the UAV program, what interesting from this collaboration is that TAI also plans to market PT.DI' newly developed light lift aircraft N219 and together develop N245 (the improved, civilian version of CN-235). This is a win win cooperation.

I think they will make another design, since the max flying height is significantly higher.
40.000 feet vs 23.000 feet.

they use turpobrop engine... Turkey even used commercial vehicle engine to work on high attitude for Anka..

very big difference... also, you have to have SAR radar which Turkey can help with to be able to see the ground from top of the clouds...
the reason it is very important is you can hit those UAVs until 30000 feet with medium range missiles. On top of that, You need S-400 type of missiles and also will cost a lot of money to the enemy too...

India's dual boom drone is an old launcher-parachute system that's dead now. It was one of a few drones that heavy that could use such a system.

Indian MALE was never of that design:

If It is 40000ft altitude required for the drone Indonesian PTDI and TAI team up to develop, Partnership on Akinci HALE UAV project is likely.

Portofolio of PT DI is not only making metal parts but wide array of assembling and developing Aircraft, rotorcraft, Helicopter, UAV and developing Management combat systems and electronic suite according Indonesia Air Forces needs in cooperation with another local and foreign companies. Not only that we got many state owned enterprises and research centers including local university to backing up our avionic industry. Like LAPAN, LIPI, UGM, UI, ITB, LEN, INTI, and armed forces research units.

Developing another "Anka" is, IMO, useless...
If, dev is happening it's mostly under the "AKINCI" scale...
Since if the roadmap is followed... it should be MQ1 equivalent (ANKA) Then MQ9 equivalent (AKINCI) and so on...

Aircraft company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is collaborating with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) to produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are capable of flying at a maximum height of 40,000 feet.

“TAI has lengthy experience in building high-altitude UAVs. So we will collaborate with them in the project,” said PTDI president director Elfien Goentoro in Bandung on Monday.

TAI has developed UAVs or drones that are used by the Turkish Military and operated at a height of 20,000 feet. They are capable of being equipped with night vision and weapons systems.

Elfien said PTDI was currently developing a medium-altitude long-endurance UAV.

PTDI production director Arie Wibowo added that the government wanted to ensure that collaboration between PTDI and TAI in producing lightweight UAVs take place to reduce dependency on manufacturers in Western countries.

“We need an experienced firm like TAI, a firm from a Muslim country with an advanced technology in the aviation industry,” said Arie, adding that several other firms were only interested in direct selling, not technology transfer.

The UAV project is projected to be completed within one to three years, Arie said, adding that PTDI and TAI also planned to develop CN-235 and N219 planes, PTDI’s two flagship products.

Meanwhile, TAI CEO and president Temel Kotil expressed hope that the collaboration would result in the production of high-quality UAVs, saying that PTDI had a reputation as a major player in the Asian aerospace industry. (jlm/bbn)
