Indonesia, Turkey team up to develop military drones

For SAR radar, although i do believe Turkey have quite expertise in the area, Indonesia already develop this technology, and currently install it on our surveillance aircrafts. We can combine both expertise to build the SAR radar for the new UAV.

This is the man that develop SAR technology used by many Indonesian institutions.

Also, the main thing is the engine which Turkey just recently developed and will be ready by next year. Because, engines loose power when they go higher attitude where there is less oxygen unless its turbofan engine which will cost way too much money...

I really wish and think that end of this project will take you to TFX which will be the best jet for you out there...
because Korea either side with China or USA, which is hard to trust for Indonesia...

I want to see some navy projects too..

Indonesia have been cooperating with S.Korea for other projects and they are willing to share their technology and expertise with us. Makassar class LPD and 209 class submarine projects for example, thus IFX/KFX must go forward. We are already building new production hangar facilities to build the IFX prototype in Indonesia. It's too late to change the course now.

Nevertheless, Indonesia and Turkey can cooperate on many other projects. Medium tank is a success. Indonesia also cooperate with Kar Powership of Turkey to develop floating powerships with total capacity of 5GW. Turkey will provide TOT to our shipyard, PT.PAL

We are also planning to build 2 heavy frigates, around 150 meter in size for $750 million. This most likely exclude the weapon systems. If Turkey shipyards join the tender process, there may be some chance for further cooperation in this area.

Yes bro, called pd170 and can work at 40000 ft attitude. Its ready actually, just some test going on.
Otherwise nobody will sell engine to develop hale class uav..

Also bro i hear that there are some issues about kfx project as Indonesia did pay its part in 2017 and Korea company who is responsible, has financial issues. Is that true? Thats why i said..

A small correction brother.
-PD-170 and variants are not turbo-prop but turbo-diesel drone engine which have superior altitude capability than equivalents.


-TS-1400 is a 1400hp turboshaft engine which is going to be used as Turbo-prop and Turbofan engines on different variants. Akinci UAV will use a derivative of this engine.

Wulung was jointly developed by PT.DI, Indonesia's Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), and Research and Development of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia.

PT DI's Wulung UAV is designed to perform intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. It has a operational range of 100km at a maximum height of 5,500 feet. Wulung has a maximum payload of 125 kg, has a fuel tank capacity of 35 liters, using a 22 Hp single- piston engine.

The Wulung is equipped with high definition day and night IR camera allowing it to take pictures and videos. It features autopilot capabilities and uses a modular composite structure, space wide access and quick and easy assembly technologies.

Indonesia, Turkey set to co-develop MALE UAV

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) are close to formalising an agreement to collaborate on developing an armed medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for the Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Udara:TNI–AU).

Arie Wibowo, director of production at PTDI, told Jane’s on 18 January that the development programme would be based on the design of TAI’s MALE Anka UAV. Wibowo said that once the terms of the collaborative project had been finalised, PTDI would hope to offer the TNI–AU a fully operational UAV prototype within 12 months.

“We will use the existing design of the Anka and develop it further to meet the specific requirements of the Indonesian Air Force,” he said.
