In total it'll be 10 Super Flankers for the Indo Airfroce. The Su-30 armed with russian anti-ship cruise missile would very devastating to any naval vessel operating in their territory if being shot at imo. This could boost their presence in the ASEAN and give them greater reach to secure their land an water rights. Having 10 Su-30Mkk is the same as having 10 F15E

Im afraid to say it but the foreigners are going into that country, helping the locals financialy, food, housing, schools, public services etc. While their arab brothers are busy making money and could care less when the christians takes over a part of islamic territory under the disguise of humanitarian aid or better yet missionaries, lol. When the people see no hope they tend to leave their religion, go figure.
Singapore is in the equation too. I dont know what threat a few SU-30s in the hands of the Malays and the Indonesians are to Australia. Its pretty stupid if you ask me. The Aussies are pretty well equipped these days.!
The Indonesian-Australian military balance is overwhelming in Australia's favour. Australia has next to zero capabiltiy to project force into malaysia due to distance, Indonesia being in between and that Malaysia has a modern military even if much smaller than Australia.
FC-1 is a good cost effective jet but would stand no chance against Australia's F-18's piloted by very well trained crews. FC-1 is good for Pakistan because it will generate employment, it is a stepping stone to better jets and because Pak. has a lower labour rate and because it will go up against Mig-21's and Mig-29's against which it stands good chances.
Indonesia has the largest economy in the Muslim world, the largest population and a proffessional combat hardened military. With robust economic growth and good economic reforms (cutting petrol subsidies) it has prospects of hitting 8% growth a year. Had not the Asian financial crisis hit, it would have been Indonesia not India that everyone would have been talking about.
Actually, they are afraid because the SU cruising range is much further compared to their main fighter FA18. Especially, the missile that the Flankers can bring.
They consider it as a threat:
1. Crusing Range
2. Weapon System
3. Radar ability
These reasons has made them felt not confident, even if they buy dozens of F35. It was said that "F35 is inferior than Flankers".
Australia afraid with Indonesia because in 60's Indonesia had a massive military power, both resources and hardware, consisting 12 latest Whiskey submarines, fregates, destroyers, jets like MIG21 (best jets in that era that made Dutch to stand down from West Irian and signed for peace), nuclear bomber, million of active veteran fighters from Marines, Army, Para-military & Volunteer. That time Indonesian Marines was feared and had very good reputation in flushing its enemies (Dutch, Brits - Gurkas, Royal Marines & Aussie). Especially, our special force group called Kopassus, that time called as RPKAD. Kopassus was the first Asia country to kill SAS members though the age of the group about 1 year!!! and forced SAS chief to send in more than half of its total menpower and aid from OZ and NZ SAS to Borneo to help Malaysia from Indonesian invasion. Even, British Empire sent its carrier and nuclear bomber just in case if the situation getting worse.
In circa 60, Indonesian nuclear bomber once flied over Australian capital to drop Indonesian Army webbing and helmet. This was sign for Aussie not to mess with us or else. That's why Aussie got panic and dont want to repeat the history. Moreover, the Indonesian armed forces significantly outnumbered Australian personnel (400,000+ VS 20,000+). In addition, Indonesian military also has been known as a vicious armed force. For example, in the late 90's a unit of Indonesian Army Special Force Commando kidnapped a UN soldiers and gave the body back to UN headquarters in hundreds of peaces. LOL! That's why we got the TOP rank as the most sadist warriors and been given many awards. They are even trained to eat fresh flesh of their enemy, snake, etc when they are hungry. No wonder, their training was considered as the most brutal training on earth. There was once a platoon of Bangladeshi Commando soldiers who were sent to this Commando school (Sekolah Komando Batujajar) and guess what? All of them fail the test. And many of the other SF branches got trained in this school. Besides, Indonesian SF capability is one of the key focus to Australia and other countries. We focus on SF and infantry capability because we are still lack of military hardware now due to freakin corrupt countrymen who dont care our issues.
So, this is more political and military issue, rather than religion. We/ Indonesian only fear that our land will be taken by outsiders like Ambalat and Ligitan Issue, and East Timor. Since then, the armed force sworn never let it happen and ready for war anytime anywhere if the president say GO! The current situation we have worse relationship with Malaysia as they claim our island again, maybe due to their win over Ambalat and Ligitan islands. If Malaysia keep being "Stone-Rock" and playing hide and seek with our Navy ships (KRI), War will happen soonn and the regional stability will be threaten. History will than repeat itself and I am ready for my CALL.
