Indonesia Might Buy V-22s—The Reason Is China

I hope Chinese Navy can provoke us more and sent more warships, even declared Natuna as their own territory. It will sent a clear message about China position against Indonesia.
You're hoping for China to take your islands? That's some strange masochism on a national level. The islands are yours, but if you're looking to give them away just say so. I'm sure Beijing can turn it into a tourist hot spot.

China doesn't claim the Natunas. It's weird watching Indonesians getting nervous when China publicly acknowledged the sovereignty of these islands belong to Indonesia. The only disagreement is over fishing rights. Manufacturing a dispute when there isn't any might lead to unforeseen consequences.

The one who said China claims Indonesia Natuna Islands are usually foreign journalist or analyst who dont have deep knowledge about the matter.

Stupid article. V-22 sucks. and Indonesia biggest threat is Australia and US together.
Indonesia is 10000 islands, the threats are always SEA POWER.
Let me get this straight.

V-22 cracked frequently. Very expensive, maintenance nightmare, benefit–cost ratio (BCR) very bad.

US defense projects:
A:over budget
B: delayed
C:malfunction
D:All the options above

Our Presiden has said clearly over the issue that he prefer to buy Indonesian made weapons during this economic crisis. The acquisition will be either cancelled or delayed. There is no contract yet being signed.

sounds realistic, ppl would not be happy to see a 2 billion acquisition for 8 ospry during the pandemic, not everyone is hyped for weapon acquisition like military enthusiast.

Indonesians are fundamentally in paranoid mode. At the back of their minds they know that their current occupation of the natuna island is highly illegal. Small weak indonesian kingdom had never stretched that far in its entire history. It was dutch who pinched the natuna island away from chinese qing empire. Indonesians were just the conquered slaves of the dutch. They are nowhere near entitled to automatically inherit everything obtained by their ex master. Even the dutch had to wait till the collapse of qing empire then formally declared that the natuna island was their land.
So far chinese have not made any claim yet however it does not necessarily mean they will not in the near future given that the indigenous inhabitants of the natuna island were chinese. The name natuna was made up by chinese ming emperor. The captured indonesian king sekandar and his wife daughter were initially locked up in the natuna island before heading to the chinese capital to be executed.
I highly doubt that indonesia is capable of holding the natuna island for long. It would be miraculous if the natuna island was still in indonesia's hands after the next 20 years.

Some netizen just wanna have some winning words here, even though they are unrealistic and sound foolish. The kind of armchair general. However those words do not represent the thought of the ruling class in that country, at least it's true for the current leadership.

The USA is trying at its best to pull in Indonesia closer to its orbit, though the current leadership tries at best to maintain its neutral position. But the USA as usual has planted lots of elements in that country to tilt that position.

From the inception of this nation, the USA did interfere by toppling the Founding Father of Indonesia, the first president, Sukarno. Can be read here, an article carried by The Independent (UK). Also at the article written by Steve Kangas about the CIA's dirty operations for regime changes around the globe.

Some folks conveniently be forgetful about how Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) has been exploiting one of the largest gold mining in the world in Papua Island since Dutch relieved that island. Some are trusting Australia when that nation was known tapping the mobilephone of Indonesia's former president, put an embargo on cattle export to Indonesia for human rights reason as well as the one that actually masterminded the secession of East Timor from Indonesia colluded with other Five Eyes countries, of course with the help of some key domestic collaborator (the suspect was the 3rd president, the successor to one of the longest dictators in the world, who was both elevated and toppled with the US intervention, the latter used the IMF hand forced the austerity measures following the Asian Financial Crisis 97/98, destroyed the economy caused destabilization… a text book method that we also witness in Egypt with Hosni Mobarak). And which country is threatening another secession potential, playing the card of Papua Island? The usual suspect that's stirring around the globe to maintain its rapacious empire lust! Btw I just finished reading the article written by Eric Zuesse at Silver Doctors (more of a financial website actually) about “the essence of an empire” and why the empire is restless in its relentless pursuit to conquer the Earth, in that process trying to destroy any force that wanna be independent, free from being a vassal state to that empire. A very interesting reading! Highly recommended.

I would say she is pro western democratic fundamentalist. It's religion, anything different from their religion is illegal.
Let's see how thing played out. I bet on US brainwashing machine, this machine will brainwash most of their people, and force their government to do something crazy.
Wait and see.

Very good summary.
But but, they won't listen. They got votes, and votes are all needed. This is called fanaticism.

Eric Zuesse at Silver Doctors worth reading.

Both Soekarno and Soeharto were toppled by Indonesian. CIA never had that imaginary power that you stated here. You dont have deep knowledge about Indonesia politics. Soekarno was against Islamist and he is pro communist, so it is understandable he can be toppled in a Muslim majority country like Indonesia.

Soeharto was toppled because Indonesian want democracy, but unlike what happen in other country, the demonstrator at that time was only a university students from all over the nation. The other elites who were in parliament and cabinet members understand that it was the time for Indonesia to embrace democracy. That is why both parliament and cabinet members supported the students in 1998.

Better have a history lesson for some minutes

Mongol invasion of Java
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mongol invasion of Java was a military effort made by Kublai Khan, founder of the Yuan dynasty (the leading fragment of the Mongol Empire), to invade Java, an island in modern Indonesia. In 1293, he sent a large invasion fleet to Java with 20,000[5] to 30,000 soldiers. This was a punitive expedition against King Kertanegara of Singhasari, who had refused to pay tribute to the Yuan and maimed one of its ministers. However, it ended with failure for the Mongols and victory for Singhasari.

Yep. Especially when Australia and US tried everything they can to help East Timor on independence. You are less informed. Sorry for you.
Australia didn't do shit but take credit for it. Even the Aussie PM even said he prefers east Timor be given a territory status like Christmas island.

That one that actually gives east Timor their independence was President Habibie.

I told you, you are less informed. Read some history. Not wiki or something inferior.
As compared to a brainwashed commie trying to lecture an Indonesian about Indonesian history.

The Howard government & The Clinton administration during that time did not support an independent East Timor. Far from it:

Howard's letter did not signify any support for East Timorese self-determination but the exact opposite – it was designed to defuse the issue and postpone self-determination indefinitely. The government's official submission to a parliamentary inquiry on East Timor confirmed that its 'declared preference remains for a long transition period before a decision is taken on East Timor's final status.' It reiterated months after the letter was sent that there had been no shift in policy:

On all the evidence available, the Prime Minister has come to the conclusion that if the objective is economic and strategic stability then an autonomous East Timor within Indonesia, at least for the time being, would be the better option.
