India's River Diversion Plan: Its impact on Bangladesh

Wow, was not aware of that. I thought Ken and Betwa were the first ones to be connected. Krishna and Godavari are also connected probably, but I am not sure.

The diversion of the mighty Brahmaputra is essential. Its flow is 20 times of Narmada. No dams on it and the entire water goes to Bangladesh. Fortunately NE is not water scarce. It will be a huge achievement to divert this water to Ganges and then to peninsular India.

Instead of doing $hit, try to industrialize your society, so that people will be less dependent on land and fate.

India playing God? Gwez, what could go wrong...
Im guessing another Aral.

Thanks for your wonderful suggestion. Unfortunately we are not so intelligent and smart like the Bangladeshis. We are poor country and depend on agriculture and cattle. Also we are constructing toilets so we need water to clean those. We request you to extend your kind support with your expertise and help us industrialize.

That's only ground water, what about river water? World's 2nd largest river in terms of water flow flows through your tiny country. In fact, entire Bangladesh is crisscrossed with numerous rivers.

Read the source,

Definition: Renewable internal freshwater resources flows refer to internal renewable resources (internal river flows and groundwater from rainfall) in the country. Renewable internal freshwater resources per capita are calculated using the World Bank's population estimates.

All of the rivers in Bangladesh are not usable during the dry seasons. Besides, saline intrusion has made many rivers unfit for agricultural purposes, particularly in greater Rajshahi and Khulna regions in the western half of the country...

Aral Sea Crisis...

Experts are predicting even bigger catastrophic incident in South Asia because of this river diversion... Add to that, South Asia has a much larger population density than Central Asia...
