India's Light Combat Helicopter ( LCH ) : Gets Hot & High

LCH main purpose may be fighting freedom fighters in high altitudes of Kashmir inside Indian Territory. If its used as last resort to shoot down UAV or UCAV then its purpose is justified also.
However, PA at high altitudes (skardu, Gilgit, kashmir mountain regions) will always be using Stinger or Anza SAM to deter LCH or any other IA chopper from approaching them. In Kargil the approach by PA was, stinger on every peak. using FLIR in mountains will not be helpful as ambushing helicopters becomes easy in tight corners of mountains. This chopper wont show up neither survive confronting PA in high altitudes.

but thats why we made LCH for in the first place service cieling of anza/stinger is 3.5- 4 KM while LCH can easyly fight with full load in acsess of 6 to 6.5 KM altitude baat samajh me aayee ki nahee :sarcastic:

All choppers can be shot down. Posting truisms as some kind of an argument is too clever.

Range is of no use in mountainous terrain, where ambush is easy. The range edge is favourable in plains where LOS is easy to get for targeting and firing. The more altitude LCH attains to make a clean shot, the more chances of it being spotted, ambushed and shot down. If it uses mountain covers to acquire a target, it needs to get close to get a clean shot and again chances of firing and getting out clean get very slim. Hiding and ambushing amongst mountains is easy, especially on reverse slopes to save from artillery fire and ambush the attacker whether infantry or chopper. Then caves and other natural obstacles are also used to ambush advancing enemy.

you completely missed the point.

your mixing range & terrain with service cieling (maximum altitude a plane/hellicopter/missile can achieve) and the idea of LCH was concieved after india found owt limitation of russian built gunships and other hellies used during kargil war and it is the main reason why even after so powerfull engine LCH still cant take as much load on those hights (to keep it light and agile & potent enof at that altitude to awade shoulder fired missiles like anza/stinger as even the current best ones in western nations cant go beyong 5Km altitude)

So you agree that PA fights inside the Indian territory as freedom fighters. Thank you accepting what we have been saying for decades now....the terrorists are trained and in some cases the terrorists are PA regular.
Your perception is extremely distorted leading you on an self assumption pathway.

Gilgit and Skardu are inside Pakistan.

In kashmir and northern areas, Anza will be fired from a peak, altitude on different mountains can vary but its around 3000m on average. This gives a boost in altitude already. In kargil it was between 4500 to 5500m.

first thing first no matter if a MANPAD is fired from 3m or 3000m its maximum service cieling dosent changes plus you are saying indians will make the same mistake they made in 1999 and wont learn from it and find counter measures to your offencife assets :azn:

apart from high altitude it also has all the eletronic counter measures and chaffs and flairs specially keeping in mind PAs latest aquasitions

LCH is made for high altitude war doctroine but you can dream what you want who cares :sarcastic:

I have made a point and you have nothing on your hands to dismiss it.

Having ECM, chaff, flares is not a 100% guarantee for survival, infact if a pilot is using all these measures means he is in deep waters and is fighting for his survival instead of painting and firing at his target. His mission is over.

Yes... that is the reply i expect where logical reasoning or strategic or operational or technical discussion ends from the other side.

sarge bhai LCH is a war machine and not even gunships like apache and super cobra or Mi-28 can be considrred invincible and during war time death from enemy fire is "oparational hazard" so LCH sure gives initial protection but as i said you can dream what you want real time war is no X-box/PS3 type video game :coffee:

Apply the same logic to MANPAD
I never said ANZA team is invincible.

The point is simple: India created a machine to be used in a mountainous high altitude environment but its weaknesses are already showing.

Is this the Dhruv II experiment?

A new product. Dhruv III,IV are matured product now. The rotor instability( material strength) and other trivial problems were resolved long ago.

Newly manufactured dhruvs are more relliable.
