On Topic: Well as they say DER AAYE DURUST AAYE, hope other boats will be rolled out with planned frequency on 1 per year and by the time 6th one arrives, contract for P75i would be in place.
& if all goes well, by 2021-22 IN will have 6 Kalvari class along with atleast 2-3 Arihant class subs in its fleet with 2 Akula 2 class to add.

BREAKING NEWS : DM on P75 , Pakistan China 8 new sub deal , Congress and future course .

TOI says all the six submarines will inducted by 2018 . Now project is under detailed perview of DM.

1. And i watched MP DM full interview to Times now . So few points he mentioned .
2. ON PAKISTANs 8 new submarines from China : - He said MoD is aware of it. Best thing will be to fastrack our planned induction of vessels in timely manner . INS Kalvari will be inducted by 2016 (September) .
3. DM blames congress govt for the delay .As most of the delay was due to bad review system and chalta hai attitude.of former DM and UPA . Now things are moving at fast track since PMO and MoD taking these induction on war footing .
4. Now MoD will make sure all other defence programmes are delivered on time . Major focus will be on Naval Asserts
5. MP : We aware of the fact that the country with greater Naval power will rule the world

And latest ToI report all the 6 Submarines will be inducted by 2018 . Which means we will have at least 9 new submarines by 2018 . Including 2 SSBN , 1 SSN and 6 SSK
We already have 10 Kilo and 4 german submarines. One SSN Chakra.

• So as per MoD by 2018-19 India will have 2 SSN
• 2 SSBN Arihants
• 6 Brand New Super Stealth Scoepene
• 14 old SSKs

Total of 24 by 2018-19 . Follow on P 75 and Fast tracking P75I will propel our IN capabilities to an whole new level . Leave alone the 6 SSN planned for IN .

That looks a little too optimistic considering past record, hopefully they'll comply with the new deadlines. By the end of this decade, more subs might be phased out and hence the requirement to fill that gap must be of paramount priority.

Unfortunately that was a lost decade as far as defense preparedness is concerned. But there is little we can achieve by crying over the past. Regular monitoring of projects and early settlement of new contracts will be the keys as far as compliance to new road map for IN is concerned. Present government has been critical of domestic R&D and manufacturing units empathy and if these institutes get back into shape and run efficiently, modernization of armed forces will benefit immensely.

Parrikar to attend official floating out of 1st Scorpene submarine

Mumbai, April 5: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be present in Mumbai tomorrow (April 6) for the official ‘floating out' of the first Project-75 (Scorpene) submarine on pontoon. Naval sources told OneIndia that the event will be held at Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) during Parrikar's visit to its facilities.

"This is part of Raksha Mantri's review programme. He will be briefed by the naval officers of Western Naval Command (WNC) on the status of various ongoing projects at MDL," a defence official said. Admiral R K Dhowan, Chief of Naval Staff, will be leading a high-level naval delegation on the occasion. Vice Admiral Surinder Pal Singh Cheema had recently taken over the reins of WNC as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C).

In addition to reviewing the progress of the Project 75, Parrikar is also expected to get an update on the progress of P-15 B class stealth destroyers being built at MDL. As reported in these columns earlier, six Scorpene-class submarines are currently being built at BDL in collaboration with DCNS, a French company.

As per the modified schedules, the first home-grown Scorpene submarine is scheduled to join the Indian naval ranks next year. This after a delay of over was four years. Interestingly, the then defence minister Arun Jaitley had reviewed Project 75 in August 2014, three months after he took charge. During his visit, Jaitley had inaugurated the Mazdock Modernisation Project (MMP), which was aimed at propelling the ship-building capabilities.

That is where the biggest changes will take place. DPSUs and Govt. Labs are being told 'perform or perish/or get down-sized'.
The days of Socialistic Trade-Union leaders as RMs are over. Couple that with the enthusiasm of the Pvt. Sector to enter the fray.

Absolutely, there has to be a change in working culture or else as we have seen with BSNL (& several other PSUs), they will go into oblivion the moment they face competition from private sector.
Also (if i remember correctly), P 75i project might be executed by Private Shipyards (in Joint ventures) and if that project can be managed successfully complying with time schedules, it can become a template for other bigger projects for Navy.
Diversification of suppliers is a must considering the huge building capacity required for upcoming naval projects, we have depended on Public sector shipbuilders and Russia, a little too much for our own comfort.

@anant_s But our DM conformed it. He said from here on each submarines will be rolled in time frame of 9 months consistently . And he also said that the induction plans as been revised to avoid any further delay . Infact steps have been taken to decrease the timetime line not only for submarines but also for surface fleet as well .

But am expecting more than this. Am waiting hear about additional follow on for Scorpene and P75I increased to 12 to have credible SSK fleet .

Agreed.
It is not as if the PSUs are not waking up. Where the competition is the greatest, the response is more. SBI and BSNL are two behemoths that are trying to put their houses in order. Amazingly (for me) BSNL has had a better "up-time" than pvt service providers that I use.

It's good to hear such good news. But we integrate our own DDS over it ?? Can we integrate DRDOs new AUV systems to it for sensor deployment or mine hunting ?? How do they fare in stealth ??
