Abey idiot, there is a directive principles in the constitution that says cow slaughter is not allowed in this country. It is put there by constitution makers. Also eating beef is not the objection but slaughter of cows is. You can import beef if you want to eat it. How can you be this dumb?

Why cows? Why not buffaloes, Yaks, Mithuns, and camels? All draft and milch animals.
For your education: Possession of beef is also a crime in quite a few parts of India punishable by up to 12 years in prison (if you first escape the lynching after your freezer is checked ).
Not that it really matters:
Irrational laws like Prohibition and suppression of flesh trade are difficult to enforce when there is an economic motive behind it. People will booze, they will go to the fleshpots and they will slaughter cows and bulls and eat them when they are hungry.
Commercial airlines from all over the world will land in Delhi and Ahmedabad carrying pre-packaged beef stew offered to passengers inflight and 5-star hotels and resorts in India will serve Beef dishes in their menu ( under the guise of Cara-Beef). The "white " tourists bringing in the $$$$ love it.
It is only the poor Dalit skinning a dead feral cow killed by truck who will get lynched as will anyone else whose home is invaded and whose freezer is raided.
Meanwhile India is the region's largest exporter of "beef" . No DNA tests are done if its "Buffalo beef" or cow beef. A smile and wink and a fat wad of notes works wonders with the meat and customs inspectors.

Then why doesn't your effing constitution SAY the cow is sacred.It doesn't.
The restriction Art 48 ( milch and draft only) is in the "Animal Husbandry and Agriculture " which is intended to protect milch and draft cattle.
It leaves out buffaloes, mithuns, camels and Yaks. Which by the way the Nepalese being devout Hindus themselves slaughter by the thousands.
