Looking at the desperate call by Obama to leave Afghanistan, that shatters India's hope of any long term gains in Afghanistan. Of course they are there to 'help' the Afghans, Just like USA and NATO forces treat Afghan women and children free of cost at field hospitals while also carpet bomb them, and mistake them for insurgents in precision strikes.

Game is over, Pakistan is one big broker in Afghan end game, and no one can see India having a broader role in Afghanistan.

Yes, Indians have been eased out of the equation in Afghanistan as of right now. Im sure Obama's trip to Kabul, Moscow blasts are interlinked !

Last I heard Karzai is not happy with Americans and does not want to play their game for all we know the final roll of dice is still left, if the Govt in Af is quasi friendly to India or the terror tap is hsut down as a result of Taliban coming into power..it wont be the worst result for India

Finish your kebab before AF is back on its feet. After that you have to guard both of your borders. You were not able to resovle Durand line issue when Taliban was in power. Any group moderate then Taliban will not forget what you have done to them.

please dont play on durand line as it is a proper recognized border between the 2 countries. majority of people in afghanistan dont give a damn about durand line and NWFP, it is pakistani territory and only fools will claim on it. india has so far been largely successful in gaining the trust of ordianry afghans, and if they try to ethnicize their policy in afghanistan, they will only be in the wrong track the same way pakistan went, as a result there is going to be failure for india. hope india reconsider its decision of suspending medical aid to afghanistna, as it is helping alot of needy people in the country.

India is in Afghanistan for humanitarian jobs. India has a long history of helping poor and war ravaged nations. It has helped countries at the time of crisis. The help includes medical supplies, food and economic aid.

Even when the 2005 Kashmir earth quake happened Prime Minister Manmohan Singh offered quake assistance to Pakistan. . India has sent 25 tonnes of relief material to Pakistan including food, blankets and medicine. Big Indian companies such as Infosys have offered aid up to $226,000. On October 12, an Ilyushin-76 cargo plane ferried across seven truckloads (about 82 tons) of army medicines, 15,000 blankets and 50 tents and returned to New Delhi. On October 14, India dispatched the second consignment to relief material to Pakistan, by train through the Wagah Border. The consignment includes 5,000 blankets, 370 tents, 5 tons of plastic sheets and 12 tons of medicine. The third consignment is of medicine and relief material was also send by train.]. India also pledged $25 million as aid to Pakistan.

Indians scale down in Afghanistan


KABUL: India has suspended medical aid and teaching programmes in Afghanistan, where Indian businesses and charities are slashing staff over fears they are increasingly targeted by militants, reports AFP.
Kabul-based Indians believe they were the specific targets of three recent attacks in the Afghan capital, including a February 26 bomb and gun assault on a guesthouse that killed 17 people, among them seven Indians.

Indian charity Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA), which promoted economic independence for Afghan women, said it had pulled all staff from Afghanistan.

“At the moment there is no one on behalf of SEWA in Kabul because after the 26 February disaster we were advised to come back (to India),” said SEWA's Afghanistan coordinator Pratibha Pandiya.

Indian officials said a December 15 suicide car bombing that killed eight people also targeted Indians, although former Afghan first vice president Ahmad Zia Massoud had a home in the same street.

The manager of an IT company that many Indians believe was the target, said his Indian staff had since halved to 11.

“We cannot stop people from leaving and we cannot guarantee anyone's safety,” the manager, also an Indian, said on condition of anonymity and asking that his company also not be named.

“Our office and residences are like fortresses,” he said, adding that extra security promised by the Afghan government had yet to materialise.

Either its Pakistan who is suffering Strategic Depth Syndrome or it is India who is suffering form Two Frontal Attack Syndrome. I think Indian sickness is cured by Taliban pill.. and we are still suffering and probably increasing on our disease.

The difference is that we know the "cure". and we had never been caught by the disease.

Taliban is never a pill, its an airborne virus spread across the Pakistan-Afghanistan region. US and its allies are looking for a cure, but the virus is spreading all over and since US wont get affected if it leaves the medical camp, it leaves the the "allay" who will have its effects.


India is just researching the virus.

Ahmad, My point is even Taliban didn't towed PK's line to letter T. What happens if somebody having less favourable view of PK policies comes to power in AF post-US exit. Other than that I don't have view on Durand issue. You (AF) and PK now better abt it.

Invited by? Pls clarify if AF has outsourced its Foreign Affairs to PK. Last I checked its not so. And I see on AF citizen expressing hope that India will reconsider abt recalling medical mission.
