No matter what your support to the government, the reasons why they began the protest was extremely legitimate and important. They began this protest because the Sahitya Academy refused to condemn the death of Kalaburgi.
I don't think in Indian history a major government organization has failed in it's duty this way and it's implicaitons are serious- it means that the academy is ready to support all the Swamis and Babas having a free run. The Asaram bapus who are running free today, if challenged by a journalist who is shot dead will get silent support.

No protests for rapes, riots, murders, loot, policy paralysis, by congress.? Heads of our soldiers were chopped off, and your Mani Shankar Aiyer was busy wagging his tail to the other side - where was the outrage then, why didn't you sonia ji go to president and say this is gross incompetence?
Where was the outrage when 26/11 happened, none of the intellectuals came out to protest what the reaction of the government has been.
Where were these Intellectuals during the doctor strike, India against corruption? there were the same Aholes claiming that India against corruption is holding the government hostage?
