Indian Variant of AK-47 Assault Rifle Developed - 50,000 Units Ordered in First Phase!

More like Indian members fail life. Must be fun to be around them at Parties.

Most be fun to hang around you at parties apparently, who says that?

nah bhai.... bt cant find what I want....sometimes no helmets sometimes no pads and sometimes no gloves!!!

Tag someone at a Pakistani special forces thread, maybe??

. . .
Superiority of design of one rifle, over the other :)

INSAS is a shitty rifle and no army will like to use it..and hence indian Army is phasing it out and looking for alternatives...

MPT-76 is a rifle of 21st century fit for modern militaries. Just like TAR-21 of Israeli Defense Forces or super-upgraded M-4s of U.S Army.

And why would I watch indian army's training and equipment?

Turkish Army soldiers' training, equipment, and experience is all but superior to indian Army's...

Yeah, if it was a video of Israeli Army's training or U.S Army training..then I'd love to watch...as it would give me some idea of where our forces stand.

No disrespect, but you can't compare your soldiers with soldiers of one of the most powerful Western Army. Our per capita spending on soldiers is much higher than yours.

Can you tell some details of this rifle?

Specs? Performance? Any videos preferably?

Looks tight!

Design is just one of many aspects. The INSAS is a reliable system that has been in use for over 15 years in all kinds of conditions. And it will serve for another couple of years until the MCIWS takes over.

So this is what india came up with?

Quite pathetic to be honest.

Turkish Military is being armed by latest, modern 21st century assault rifles like this one

Matches Tavor in performance..

No.

Basic infantry soldiers of Pakistan Army.

We have discussed it before...Pakistani soldiers are better equipped, better built, and with superior camo than indian soldiers.

Even many indians agree to it.

Calm down Safriz - The Turkish Rifle you are talking about has just entered service this year only with their armed forces whereas ours INSAS has been in service for the past two decades since 1994 - says much about it's reliability - and is to be replaced with our ingenuously developed MCIWS soon too enter service within our F-INSAS programme - This variant of AK-47 is the latest of the many AK-47 variant we have developed in the past - if you have compare something to make yourself feel good then try MCIWS - though you won't be able to do so. :coffee:

Another reporting gem ?????

This is an AK, not the rifle being mentioned. It's also from a video game. I dont know how people didnt see that from the beginning, or why OP inserted that image.

ak 47 - Google Search

100s of the same image above.

Ishapore, Kanpur and Tiruchirapalli factories made prototypes that can feed 7.62×39mm, Tiruchirapalli factory made Trichy, which is a converted SLR.

This rifle and the Kanpur one failed. We have no images of the Kanpur rifle or the winning Ishapore one, but you can bet the Ishapore one will be close to the INSAS variants, but just feeds AK rounds.

Ishapore factory develops Indian variant of AK-47

Indian Variant of AK-47

KOLKATA: Rifle Factory, Ishapore, one of the oldest ordnance factories in the country, has successfully designed an assault rifle on the lines of the AK-47.

Sources in the Ordnance Factory Board said the prototype of this weapon had successfully cleared field trials by the Army, the Indian Air Force and the Sashastra Seema Bal.

The Ishapore factory will soon start production of 50,000 units of this rifle in the first phase.

For over a decade now, the Ordnance Factory Board has been attempting to develop an indigenous assault rifle on the lines of the AK-47. Initially, there was some embarrassment after an ordnance factory displayed an indigenous replica of the AK-47 at a defence expo in Delhi. This didn't go unnoticed and Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of the world's most sold and used assault rifle that goes by his name, threatened to file a copyright violation suit against the Indian ordnance factory.

"Since then, our designers have been attempting to develop an assault rifle, using the AK-47 as a model but without replicating any of its mechanism. Three ordnance factories tried to develop their own variants. These were Rifle Factory of Ishapore, the Small Arms Factory of Kanpur and the Ordnance Factory of Tiruchirapalli. The Ishapore factory has a long history of developing and making rifles. During the World Wars, this factory produced .303 bolt-action rifles for the Allied forces. After the 1962 Sino-India conflict, the factory developed and built the 7.62mm self-loading semi-automatic rifle. This rifle was called the Ishapore Rifle and it went on to become the mainstay for the Indian security forces for several decades. In the 90's, the factory started manufacturing the 5.56mm Insas rifles that are still the primary personal weapon of the Indian infantryman," an official said.

The three factories at Ishapore, Kanpur and Tiruchirapalli built prototypes that underwent tests for the first time earlier this year. Minor defects were detected in all three variants. While the one developed by the Ishapore factory was declared fit in all other aspects, it failed to operate successfully in mud. An assault rifle has to be effective in all conditions, even when fired from under slush.

"This defect was rectified subsequently and when the final round of tests was conducted, the Ishapore variant was declared the best. This is an improved version of any assault rifle and the designers borrowed several facets from the 5.56mm Insas, which was also developed at Ishapore, while making this rifle. With the Insas going out of production, facilities at the Ishapore factory were lying idle. The new order will sustain the factory for the times to come," the official added.

Does it fire 5.56 MM rounds or 6.08 MM?

Your MCIWS looks good.

Our MPT-76 still has superior effective range compared to MCIWS...

The picture is not only a gun in a game. If you scroll above, there is an Indian soldier holding the exact same gun in his hands.

Im sure it is. Turkey has been very lucky all these yrs. Not subject to sanctions, tech denials regimes, etc. Plus, your involvement with NATO gives you a lot of access!
