Indian Scientists Successfully Intercept Ballistic Missile

70km 16km , AAD apparently this time. India's S300 can do it perfectly.

This intercepter should flight a high-trajectory in this test (according to the intercepter's 300km range). The hypotenuse destance of interception may be just 20-25km.

Where is the India's PDV, and the kkv ?
That will be a real threaten thing. If India test it successfully.

The development of our ABM is not over..there are steps which take us forward...without doing this we cannnot go directly to PDV...
Next test would be PDV and will have KKV.....

we have even destroyed target at 80KM altitude..
and we have also tested 16Km altitude..that called multi-layered defnce from Ballistic missile

Indian ABM system is just in preliminary stages, lots and lots of more work required.

As I said before they are testing AAD interceptions at all altitudes, the last time the same missile intercepted at 25 km altitude.

PDV will tested at the end of this yr.

PAD has been tested twice since last 3 yrs, intercepted the target at 75 Km and 80 Km altitude.

70km range, 16km height, Can A LCA fighter fly this high?

no offense, Only India take this as news. Chinese did that with improved HQ-2 in 1980's.

Dude, do you know the meaning of multi layered defence???? Just being able to hit a missile at 100 Kms is not enough. You need to add redundancy at multiple altitude to reach a > 99% credibility. ALL these test are proving that india is nearing that credibility by conducting successful interceptions at various altitudes (16-85 Km). DRDO will do some more tests for >100 Km before deploying a defence shield to intercept a missile with a range of 2000 km (IRBMS). After that DRDO will go after ICBMs

PDV may can reach US's THAAD, if it is test success. End of this year? let us expect the test.

DEMARCHE FOLLOWING CHINA'S JANUARY 2010 INTERCEPT FLIGHT-TEST - Telegraph

2.(S//REL TO USA, FVEY) BACKGROUND: The U.S. Intelligence Community assesses that on 11 January 2010, China launched an SC-19 missile from the Korla Missile Test Complex and successfully intercepted a near-simultaneously launched CSS-X-11 medium-range ballistic missile launched from the Shuangchengzi Space and Missile Center. The CSS-X-11 was launched from Shuangchengzi at 1150:00Z; the SC-19 was launched from Korla at 1152:42Z. U.S. missile warning satellites detected each missile's powered flight as well as the intercept, which occurred at 1157:31Z at an altitude of approximately 250 kilometers. No debris from this test remains on-orbit.

It has already been said...
Two new anti ballistic missiles that can intercept IRBM/ICBMs are being developed. These high speed missiles (AD-1 and AD-2) are being developed to intercept ballistic missiles with a range of around 5,000 km (3,100 mi).[26] The test trials of these two systems are expected to take place in 2011.[27] The new missile will be similar to the THAAD missile deployed by the U.S.A. These missiles will travel at hypersonic speeds and will require radars with scan capability of over 1,500 km (930 mi) to successfully intercept the target

About PDV

In 2009, reports emerged of a new missile named the PDV. The PDV is said to be a two solid stage hypersonic anti-ballistic missile similar in class to the THAAD. The PDV is intended to replace the existing PAD in the PAD/AAD combination. It will have an IIR seeker for its kill vehicle as well. The PDV will replace the PAD with a far more capable missile and will complete the Phase 1 of the BMD system, allowing it to be operational by 2013. Whereupon Phase 2 development will take over for protection against missiles of the 5,000 km (3,100 mi) range class.[30] The first test flight of the missile is expected in 2010.[31] The PDV is designed to take out the target missile at altitudes above 150 km (93 mi).[32]

news of day!:yahoo:
BTW how many tests will be conducted before the missile enters the service.

Some details about PDV....

1) Its a two stage missile.
2) Solid motor first stage plus kill vehicle.
3) Kill vehicle has IIR guidance instead of active seeker on PAD.
4) Kill vehicle has same divert thrusters of PAD, may be improved.
5) One meter longer than PAD.
6) Will replace PAD.
