Indian RTA-70 Regional Turboprop To Have Jet Variant?

I wish they involve private players like Tata, Mahindra, L&T, Infosys etc in the project. It will be good for the project.

Yes mahindra and mahindra is making an aircraft, and TATA is going ahead with a Chopper, So Indian aerospace firms are slowly coming up, Now HAL and NAL will face tough competition against these PVT markets

Private companies don't have capabilities to do that. They are far behind in terms of infrastructure, technology and R&D for designing and developing an aircraft like RTA. As of now they can only help NAL.

But I think we should involve private companies for better management and sub-systems assembly.

I doubt, but mahindra is capable Enough to Make Jets.... As it has Started One partnering NAL...

Mahindra, Tata etc are far far behind in terms of experience, technology or infrastructure to develop any thing in the line of RTA-70/90. The aircraft NM-5 that Mahindra developing jointly with NAL, is mainly using NAL R&D facilities and expertise in developing small aircrafts. But still you can't compare NM-5 with RTA-70/90.

But again Our Pvt companies have the Habit of growing fast, And Beware, because the emergence of a strict Competition Has started, NAL and HAL need to Speed up, Because If TATA and MAHINDRA In future Join hands as Obvious then NAL and HAL Must be able to give them a run for there Money....

Anyways I support all 4 of them...

Yeah thats why I asked for bringing them into the consortium. Its not only NAL or HAL but DRDO and ISRO also part of the project. Its a national project that combined India's full capabilities and private industries must be part of this.

Pvt companies have successfully Contributed In the Avionics part, but Not in designing and Marketing, Hope Thats would soon happen

Unless they don't get a penny from Ambani Bros, things wouldn't be rosy. Yes you can involve above mentioned companies in vertical integration but U need the name of Reliance to keep moving things fast.

Reliance is there, But not the Ambani ones, its self reliance... Pvt companies have that in them

Mahindra has 75.1 % stake in the following two Australian aerospace companies.
Aero- staff - Aerostaff Australia -
-Expertise in close tolerance high precision sheetmetal components and assemblies for the aviation, defence and specialised sheetmetal industries
Gippsland Aeronautics -
-Expertise in building utility aircraft. Their biggest aircraft assembly line to-date is a 16-seater known as GAF Nomad
This is a fine example of how to build expertise from scratch. Acquisitions ! Indian Private sectors seem to be catching up on the strategies of IT bigwigs like IBM and Google to gain entry into a new market.

Ofcourse Indian companies dont have in house R&D capabilities. But atleast have some manufacturing capabilities which they can leverage by getting technologies from NAL and JV's with aerospace majors like Boeing.

Where will the funding come from. L&T makes few products, so does TATA and M&M but the point is, this field is not their primary business. They only have spin-offs which are contributing to self-reliance. Also our govt. is not interested in indigenous systems but indi-generous systems. How many companies do we have who are primarily focused in Aviation sector.?? unless u dont have a company like Boeing or Airbus, who's preliminary goal is to focus in their particular sector, how can we achieve self reliance.

Ok first there is something called Leap Froging that our country did in last decade. Especially our IT industry. Why were they able to do that, inspite of having very low investment (infy, HCL etc). Because they were commited. They didn't build the computer from scratch but created a base to their services. But my point is that they were focus only in one area and hence could excel. Tata group has 96 companies. They are in existence from 100 years odd. Look at their investment in the feild. AT the end of the day, return of investment matters.

Secondly, there are people called Shareholders. We pay dividend to them. They are the owners. Are they interested in making fighter planes,or tanks or RTA's.(No). There is a huge investment and low return. Govt subsidies for desi companies are also low. So how can they survive??

There is something called Blue Ocean Strategy and Red Ocean Strategy.

If they can focus on new and unexplored markets rather than going into established markets, chances are there that they may be profitable as well as can create better weapons for us.
