1. Soviet Union found water on the moon in 1976 in Luna-24.

2. The Indian spacecraft merely carried a NASA instrument (M3 instrument) onboard to find the water. It was a technology by NASA just taking a ride onboard an Indian spacecraft headed to the moon. These days ISRO is making India Proud !!!

Exactly, No body knows what is there in store for ISRO. People thought earth is flat until Magellan (European), Ancient India knew it, but did not know other continents exist. My point is earth is so big for us to discover at that time, so is Mars for us now.

I mean people says if US finds nothing on ground what you are expecting to find from up over there. But there is a thing called right place and right time. US landed men on Moon but could not find water. Mars is also a quite big place for Rover or Opportunity.

OK, so, India got more data (with more modern instruments over 30 years later – how amazing!) but it was the Russians who were the first to report of water finding – not India!

Again its not about who is first and last. For Scientists science is first. Lets stop acting like kids... the point of my previous post was to show that all missions have achieved the same conclusion.

The finding is based on an analysis of high-resolution spectral data of the Compton-Belkovich Volcanic Complex (CBVC) region on the far side of the Moon obtained by the NASA instrument Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3)

The above lines are from the article used to start the thread and it clearly acknowledges that M3 is a NASA instrument and now where it says that it was a ISRO instrument.

Oh my god magmatic water this is really going to change life on earth, this is ground breaking, we've finally found the magmatic water that's been rising from the Moon's interior for millions of years and more. The only thing that has changed is our knowing of it not the existence of the magmatic water itself.

Sometimes the Astronomy community gets carried away. First go and study the magmatic water, learn its composition and chemical and molecular structure, and see if any microbial or prokaryotic or eukaryotic life live at the source of the magmatic water hole.

As long as Indians agree to these 2 facts, I have no problem:

1. The Soviets found water on the moon in 1976.

2. NASA confirmed the presence of water on the moon with its M3 instrument which they put on board the Indian spacecraft which was headed to the moon.


As long as we all agree those 2 points are facts then we don't have any disagreement.
