Indian Navy grows stronger

sorry to differ sir Indian navy is a blue water navy and will become much potent in coming years.

no dear..we re not a blue water navy yet..it will be a decade for us to become one and that too even considering all our modernizing plans work out..

Nope, India doesn't have the supercarrier which can travel unlimitedly around the World.

And India doesn't have the SSBN and the SSN in its inventory yet.

These don't fit the definition of the blue-water navy.

I say only USA, Russia, France, UK and China have got a better navy then India in the World.

What about Japan?
Indian navy is the 6th biggest navy in the world (well according to wiki).

Having a supercarrier is not the only condition to be a blue water navy. FYI only US have Supercarriers. Neither China has is building any or have any plans for future (I am not talking about fanboy stuffs on your forum, there is no official news confirming China has any plans for Super carriers).

Only US, Russia, UK and France has naval strength that counts to be a blue water navy.

True but that isn't a requirement for blue water navy.

The term blue-water navy is a colloquialism used to describe a maritime force capable of operating across the deep waters of open oceans.[1] While what actually constitutes such a force remains undefined, there is a requirement for the ability to exercise sea control at wide ranges. The term used in the United Kingdom is expeditionary.

These don't fit the definition of the blue-water navy.
Look IN is not blue water navy, it is an aspiring blue water navy. By 2020 it will be a blue water navy, i think even before 2015, India can make into a blue water navy and same is the case in Chinese navy.

Sure, China has to plan to build the supercarrier in the future.

They are now working on the electromagnetic launch system.

For a carrier with the electromagnetic catapults, you need a Nimitz sized carrier + two brand new nuclear reactors that can generate 3-4 times the electric power of the A4W reactor.

For PLAN, no supercarrier = no blue-water navy.

We already have the SSBN and SSN in our inventory, now supercarrier is the only one we are waiting for.

Super-carrier is not essential for Blue water navy but capable of operating across the deep waters of open oceans. Carrier is essential for that but not super carrier.

Its not true....

??? Are you saying there are plans ??/

Good for you guys...I don't think even IAC2 will feature that , but it might be possible for IAC3,4 although very less info is there about them.
Any official source or article will be helpful for both of the above two statement you made....please ...

For PLAN, no supercarrier = no blue-water navy.
Yeah we know you have your own definitions...

We already have the SSBN and SSN in our inventory, now supercarrier is the only one we are waiting for.
Yeah we all know that and we know that you will reach that mark before us.....
But we will induct our first SSBN by 2012-2013 and we are leasing a SSN from Russia which will join IN by October. Not to mention we already have an AC and actually we are the only asian naval power with an AC (excluding those 20000 tons LHD or helicopter destroyers of Korea and Japan which are sometimes termed as AC).

I am just saying after Chinese navy, its just Indian navy and no one else in Asia as for right now....

Super-carrier is not essential for Blue water navy but capable of operating across the deep waters of open oceans. Carrier is essential for that but not super carrier.
Thats what i was saying....

You need two nuclear reactors that each one can generate 3 - 4 times of the electric power of the one that is currently used for the Nimitz class to power the electromagnetic catapults.

These carriers must be huge which are over 90,000 tons.

you mean to say Super carriers?

Agreed. Super-carrier, SSBN and SSN are non essential for blue navy, however having it would be considered a luxury.

Think of the entire Navy as a tool box, having extra tools is better than having fewer tools as it will enable you to effectively perform variations of different tasks. Needless to say, having fewer choice of tools means you either have to perform certain tasks the hard way or you simply cannot do so without the required tools.

Anyway, congratulations on India's naval developments. It is always good to read about more developments coming out of Asia. It really shows how fast Asia is growing.

Well, these may be the luxury for India, but it is the commodity for China.

Because China now is a 6 trillion USD economy and will soon become a 10 trillion one. And India is only a 1.4 trillion USD economy.

India should do make a deal for 75 SUBs from Germany and Russia...lets say it costs 100 billion dollars it would be well spent....

75 subs for india ? thats too much to ask and too far from realistic needs and capacity.
