But how can the Muslims of India demand a separate country for themselves when they do not form a clear cut majority in any province in India?

Pakistan was never land of the Hindus in the first place.

The people of Pakistan converted to Islam.

Secondly as India turns to Hindutva, Indian Muslims will naturally resent that.

Historically Pakistanis were Buddhists and Zoroastrians before the Pakistanis accepted Islam.

Meanwhile, in reality, the only Muslims who called for a separate homeland in South Asia after independence were East Pakistanis, from the country that claimed to protect the interest of Muslims.

What do you mean given to you? The land always belonged to native people living in Pakistan for several hundred years. Do you even know Indus valley civilization.

Nobody in Pakistan cares about indian Muslims. I can quote several indian channels where Muslims given shut up call and were asked to go to Pakistan. This happens on routine basis.

Weather you like it or not, indian muslims will always live as third class citizen in their own country. Not long ago Indian Muslims faced biggest humiliation with triple talaq issue. This is just the start.
On the contrary Pakistan has actually never played that card.

As a person from dalit community , me and my family is a blind voter of Mayawati, and i want to tell you that yogi is doing pretty much nice work in law & order since he came in power., there are 100+ encounter of chambal Daaku and criminals who have bounties on there head , last time this happened in when Mayawati was in power, also since yogi came in power he is going away from the hindutva and currently he is busy in putting a leash on Thakurs/Rajputs who are rioting in the name of padmavati even he is a Rajput himself.

So you are supporting extra judicial killings? Is there no judiciary in india?? Oh I forget last time i checked was Indian judges doing press conferences saying "democracy is in danger in india".

lol, Pakistan was never Indian land to begin with.

We were under the British Raj empire in Asia.

Even Myanmar was part of British Raj.

In have interaction with Indian Gujrati Muslims on a daily basis. They seem friendly and a quiet people but they certainly do not favour or support Pakistan in anyway as they do with Palestine.

Well they ll be killed if they do so, infact they have to hate Pakistan to prove that they are nationalist or else they get the label of Pakistani. Their homes will be burnt to ashes.

Having said that by no means I am saying that Indian muslims are bad as humans , they actually paid huge role in Pakistan movement. I am just trying to highlight the ground realities that indian Muslims face but they just cant express. Imagine not be able to rent a flat in Mumbai if you are Muslim or Kashmiri.

Hmmm. As some one who has DOZENS of close relatives in India and Pakistan and who's been to India twice--my understanding is that Indian Muslims were very much FOR Pakistan. A lot of them just couldn't leave for Pakistan in 1947 for various reasons--but none of those reasons were not because they didn't believe in Jinnah's vision of a Pakistan. But it's just very hard to leave your ancestral lands.

As I said, Indian Muslims 'were' but that statement requires some explanation: They were openly for Pakistan even in more urban areas like Ahmadabad--where I still have relatives (first cousins). They used to cheer for Pakistan during cricket matches. But... with Pakistan's image being so destroyed since 9/11, things have changed considerably. Now they realize that it's better to be an 'Indian' which opens up options for educated people to go abroad with easier access. Besides, they know what raising heads can mean--the Gujarat Massacres of 2002 are a vivid reminder.

Where do we go from here? I think we wish them the best luck--as we do to Bangladeshis--but from a distance. Eventually these religious divides will not mean much and Indian Muslims will integrate within India. Slowly but surely.
