Implying that all Indian Muslims support Saddam or only Muslims supported Saddam is incorrect.
Keeping aside the fact that he was a dictator and there could be no excuse for that, the fact is that Saddam was pro-India. Infact, Iraq was one of the few Arab countries that not only supported bilateral resolution of Kashmir but supported the Indian stance that Kashmir was a part of India. India had a full fledged air force training program and pilots and army personnel stationed in Iraq during the 70s and 80s.
So there was a lot of support for Iraq, particularly in the left leaning section of the Indian public apart from Indian Muslims. The war with Iraq on the false premise on WMDs was disastrous for Indian security because it affected vital petroleum supply lines and a fabourable regime in Iraq to India. And also moved US focus from Afghanistan to Iraq for the next 6 six years. Not to mention the humanitarian costs that resulted in the death of 1000s of people.
