Indian LCA Tejas Or Pakistani JF-17: Who Is Winning The Malaysian Fighter Jet Contract?

.
It has, the Export Variant of Tejas will use Indian D-29 (a very capable E/W Suite) and Uttam radar. and other Indian made stuff.
By the time Astra mk2 with 180 km range will also come. Uttam with Astra is an unbeatable combo. within 3 to 4 years, an indian made long range stand off weapon shall also be on offer.

. .
Combat radious is about 30% of ferry range. 1500 km combat radious means JF 17 can go 1500
JF-17 has a ferry range of 3500 kms with 3 tanks. Can an ac go into combat with 3 tanks? Due to payload constraints as a well as speed constraints. The combat radius of 1350 kms is claimed with 2 tanks of 800kg each. That amounts to a combat range of 2700 kms. This translates to hardly any reduction in range in combat mode from ferry range. Ferry range is in most efficient mode but combat range is not. Then why not much change in range in combat mode?

Moreover, this also means better combat radius compared to much better aircraft like F-16 and JAS -39. Is JF-17 so much better in aerodynamics and engine technology?
It does sound an inaccurate figure to me.

Tejas MK 1A is a very promising package. All the allied systems and weapons also look very good.
Hopefully all the agencies developing these do develop what they have promised.

DRDO has a poor track record in this aspect. It promises the moon but doesn’t deliver in quality and within the promised timelines. The other problem that I see is HAL not able to produce the numbers as promised. Past performance may not be repeated in the future but it does play in the minds.

Fingers crossed.

Tejas too have 3500 km range with drop tank. Here people want to compare Jf17 with external fuel and Tejas without external fuel. Tejas has a much better aerodynamics and T/W ratio which allows it to take off vertically after take off which JF 17 can not do. Tejas has a great vertical loop timing of 19 seconds. JF 17 can not even do that. Infact, Tejas Mk1 can only be compared with Grippen C/D and with nothing else. Other planes are much inferior to Tejas in all parameters. Even China calls Tejas a plane of future.

. . . . .
Jf17 has 1350 km
Tejas has 500 km

And how will you back it up ? 🤔🙄 apna teetar ee.. bss rehnde de yaar

On flip side it can be a headache if they have to rely on india for weaponry.. with JF17 its way easier to integrate their own weapons as JF17 has a specific weapon integration department..

same weight, similar engine, similar fuel....your range is 3 times that of ours...sure bro. I'm sure it has some magical way of defying physics.

They don’t have big coastline either, for patrols they have the Flankers.
Flanker is basically for air superiority ànd your Tejas have too much avionics ànd radars from Israel, may be Israel Will not allow you to sell Tejas to Malaysia because of Malaysian stand on phalistine issue most chance of induction in Malaysian air Force kai F/A 50

Tejas’ export variant uses Indian made avionics and radar, even our own MK1A will use it too which we’ll export to Malaysia if they select it.

We talking about current one not mk1a ànd which Indian avionics ànd radars you have for mk1 ànd still mk1a uses lots of avionics ànd hmd from Israel

Similar weight ? Maybe

Similar engine ? Nah
Consumption wise
JF17 : .77lb
Tejas : .81lb

Thrust wise
JF17: 50.1 kn dry and 81.3 afterburner
Tejas: 48.9kn dry and 78.7 afterburner
