Indian IT firms employ over 1 lakh in US: Report

Some Indian Uni's soliciting students to study in the US. They say after you do two semesters with them, you can apply for a work permit and work full time with companies. They claim they have 100 students working for Microsoft.

Go figure. Indians have the US system all wrapped around their fingers.

I've heard of many Indian unis and consultancies that are doing that. Permanently settling in the US now costs now like $5000 - $10,000, which they will charge you for seemingly legitimate things but get the work done for you.

For example this sardar ji I know, hes getting programmers from India to the US and hires them in his company.

His company is an IT vendor that gives services for awesome things like "Software development, Networking, Project Management and all things you can imagine". Now he keeps hiring people but makes a deal with them that they will pay him xyz amount and in turn he will arrange for an H1B visa. Now they are in the US with a work permit and legally living there, and can go out and search for a legit job. Getting a job in the US is no trouble when you compare to the lack of jobs in our part of town.

They then quit the Sardar ji's company, and join their other one.

What are Pakistanis doing? They go to America, bed a few girls, till they find one of them who wants to get married. The Indian plan is a community action. One guy is pulling the other guy in, and then the other, and other. Indians are all quitting the Middle East like anything, the truly smart ones are going all to the US.

make sure u dont get exploited by such bogus companies. beware...
if u have ever been out of ur hole and been to us or canada. u would know that 30% of graduating engineers in us are indians. 60% are chinese and south koreans, so my frnd if ur talking abt the white man. sorry they dont study engineering anymore coz they cant compete.

You are a condemned fool, those stats you pulled out from the hole are absolute rubbish, and highly exaggerated. What you just implied that white students either in US or Canada now can at best make up 10% of Engineering graduates in either US or Canada! You are seriously on hard drugs, go get off this forum and go burn your computer and don't reply back. Many of you Indians post all sorts of bs stats from your bs indian sources that have a poor fact checking record.

There are also many Pakistanis at the University level, I don't know what makes you say as if Pakistanis are slacking? Statistics have proven the Pakistani diaspora in the US is the most prosperous and sucessful Pakistani diaspora in the world. Though you have to understand Pakistan is a country with 175 million people and over ten million living outside its border, to expect to see as many Pakistanis in universities or elsewhere in any field as countries with over a billion people is probability wise less likely, due to the sheer amount of numbers.

Though nearly every success indicator shows Pakistani community is doing well.

Here's a report for you to read, about what one Pakistani Biomedical engineer and Neurologist has done.

You've heard the stories of Pakistanis earning A's on their O level Exams and youngest professional at Microsoft is a Pakistani, so many success stories.

Did your indian friends tell you that ?? Over a direct line from LA to Sindh ??

If you've been around in this forum long enough, you'd know that I've lived in the US for a long time. People on this forum personally know me, I was born & raised in Pakistan, before my Dad got posted to DC when I was in Middle School, I'm a PR of the US, living there for almost a decade.

I personally have not been through the F1 or H1 process, but I know plenty of Indians from India that have been through that.

Please avoid the personal attacks before I report your posts.

loll i study in university of waterloo as an engineering student in ece in 1st year. i promise u come over and see any top uni of canada uoft, waterloo, bc and macgill . if ur able to find 20 white students in an engineering class of 120 i will leave this forum and never come back. even if u find white students they will be russians or ukranians who came ther as international students not americans or canadians. pretty much the same thing goes with america.

lol how many jobs have pakistanis created in us if they ever did? i know its a stupid question to ask but still.
it doesnt matter to whom we r giving the job as long as its contributing to america and indian economy. grow up guys. world is trying to reach the moon and pakistan is only country that says we will dig a hole deep into earth and live in it. our company our engineers our people, why r u guys jealous.

I think we will soon have a much more easier work visa policy for Indians in both Europe and USA. There are intense negotiations on with both and India has enough leverage with both to make sure our IT and other professionals are not put to unnecessary hassle.

The sky is the limit for the Indian services industry.

Pardon me for jumping in but how exactly is the number of H1-B's issued to Indians correlated with the number of people employed by Indian companies in the US?

A lot of Indian work for Microsoft.

A lot of Indians work for NASA.

A lot of Indians work for various universities as faculty in the US.

A lot of Indians work for Google.

A lot of Indians work for McKinsey.

A lot of Indians work for Booze & Co.

A lot of Indians work for Pfizer.

The list is endless.

The point is, you are assuming that Indians being granted H1-B's has any bearing on the no. of people employed by Indian companies in the US.

Last I checked none of these major companies belonged to India.

indians are phenonmenal. there is no country in the world which habitually takes so much pride for its citizens working in companies owned by another country and without much supporting evidence to the claim do you have the reports published by these companies showing the staff profiles ranking by ethnicity? and also by nasa?

indian companies invest in usa because there is a need in there and a profit incentive for indian investors which I think are granting a sizeable proportions of temporary working visas to indians. so the case is also self serving. the money that working indians make has also resulted in india's no.1 status as remittance recipients in the world which has a big impact on their service oriented economy.(China also ranks as top 3 in that category but China has a much stronger manfacturing base so relatively less dependent on it than india).

And also because of the large employment of indians by these indian companies registered in usa, they can outbid all indigenous american outfits in computer related projects which actually is posing as the biggest threat to these local usa companies.

put India and Indians down

Simply shouting "hatred" and "racism" won't make your points. If you read my posts, I made it clear early on that this import of workers hurts resident NRIs just as much as anyone else. You guys are the first to keep reminding everyone that X% of US workforce in this-n-that is Indian. When that workforce is under pressure, do you suppose Indians are immune?

I meet any number of Indian IT graduates from local unis who can't find a job because the entry-level jobs get filled by imported workers.

- to now say you " hired Indians"- let alone you be in a position to hire anyone ? is biggest farce you are trying to lay one over us. That's like me saying I hire Chinese.

Sidestepping your silly tirade, let me assure you unequivocally that my preference is ALWAYS to hire local workers (white, black, Indian, Chinese, whatever) over imported workers (white, black, Indian, Chinese, whatever). This is not about race; it is about the fact that these local workers should have priority -- simple as that.

It is telling, though not all surprising, that you wrap yourself in the American flag when trying to bash China but, when push comes to shove and you have to choose between fellow Americans and Indians, you choose mother India instead.

Actually, H1-Bs don't pay full tax -- I believe SS tax gets refunded. If the same jobs were held by full residents, more of the money would stay in the US.

These jobs are basically a migration pipeline; they further dilute the local job market and exacerbate the unemployment problem in the US. This hurts existing NRIs as much as everyone else.

No H1-B also pay SS and it is not refundable.. but they get some exemptions as they are away from home country but those are negligible ... when they say 100000 Employee those are more likely US citizens bcos H1B are not counted in government job data.
any way now with recent slowdown , there are lot of talent available here, last H1b got filled completely was in April 2008 before slow down. They got more applications than quota in single day
In 2009 quota was not filed , but 1000s H1B holder went back to India bcos they lost job and Visa in 2010 was same situation, quota got full on 26 Jan 2011 for 2010. From 2011 situation got better and many big Indian companies got lots of work , bcos they were competitive as well as they had running show back in India. Now Indian companies got smart, they don;t want to train Indian worker for US work and well as there are lots of hassle in H1B and L1 visa(L1 is quota less visa and mostly used by all big Indian companies) . Indian and America workers cost same here in my city. Even CEO of my previous company , american joined big Indian IT company as VP. This provide them better way to connect to american clients ..

Any can find lots of foreigners at Infosys Mysore campus who are recruited direct from campus .. 3 of my american friends went their for training for 3 months and spend 1000s rupee on subway ..)

Hiring US employee is really profitable compare to Indian bcos Indian employee coming on L1 get return air fair for him and his/her spouse and children and some time they have to pay for relocation as well as other things. No such a issue with US citizen.

when they say 100000 Employee those are more likely US citizens bcos H1B are not counted in government job data.

These numbers are from NASSCOM, the Indian organization, not the US government. I was being generous and accepting their number of 175,000 indirect "supported" jobs, even though some if it is just plain silly. They are counting even things like pharma as "supported" so, if an H1B gets a headache and buys an aspirin at the local drugstore, that's one more job "supported" by Indian companies.

I mean, really!
