let me tell you one thing that you can never deny so you can wake up from such excuse sold to your by your politician: We even did NOT have a real stock exchange by 1990, as of today, we still can not freely trade our currency, as of today, our private business are still not allowed to enter a lot of sectors, as of today, there is still no private banks in China.

Well I kinnda expected you to know what it meant.. but i guess I had high hopes of a techie working for 10 years in open source.. anyhow opening up of the economy means that you guys opened it to the world market.. FDI Foreign direct investment.. That is the reason China has done a massive military exercises to suppress the internal unrest. Don't try to rub the problem of urs on others.

The whole thread is off topic now and I was resisting but I guess I will bite:
(1) India is behind China when it comes to infrastructure and FDI numbers
(2) India is ahead of China when it comes to freedom in general, empowerment of masses (read democracy). Ask any neutral person from any country where he would like to retire, India or China and you will understand what I mean?
(3) People like shchinese love to brag about India's poverty as if there is no poverty in China anyways a trillion dollar economy growing at 7-8% the poverty and lack of infrastructure is just a matter of time but I believe I would prefer to remain poor, choose my own government, say and do what I want (inside the law of course) then to be rich without by basic rights and freedom to choose
