India's northeast is more volatile than Pakistan nowadays yet Indians are more worried to the west of their border

Seriously..you guys are using attack helicopters and fighter aircrafts there. There simply no comparison between the two.

And I don't know what has happened, nowadays some of these apparently Baloch journalists keep tagging me in these threads, although I have never been interested in that subject. One of that thread says Pakistani helicopters dropped dead bodies from high above ?

She said that though the news of the martyrdom of her husband came as a rude shock to the family but still she feel proud to be the wife of a man who laid down his life while defending the honour and integrity of the country.

“I am honoured, indeed proud to be his wife. If I had a son I would have sent him to join the army as well, but I will motivate my daughter to follow the footsteps of her father,” she said.

This was gruesome.
Not a single terrorist in NE must be left.

And few people were asking to remove AFSPA :hitwall:

We need to coordinate better with Myanmar, they also want to take these rebels out, we can join hands and one and for all flush them out it's going to be tough and bloody job, but a job that needs to be done before any large scale development of the NE region can happen.

You worry about your CPEC. We had no reason to interfere except in Azad Kashmir. Now if proven that Pak was involved in this attack, you have given us reason to increase the momentum of activities inside your territory.

What do you think, Pak establishment will find a narrow escape? Never. The anger is huge in the public now. And you just pray that RAW does not take the words of Altaf Hussain seriously otherwise it will be another dhaka for Pakistan army created by Pakistanis itself.

We are aware that Vulnerability of Pakistan is 100 times more than India.

There were protests in Jammu in the favor of Khalistan but when the bodies arrived every one was silent and full of anger. Just pray that Pak government's involvement is not found in this attack.

Himachal to give financial aid of 5 lakh each to the family of seven soldiers

All seven soldiers of the 6 Dogra Regiment from Himachal who were killed in the Manipur ambush on Thursday were cremated with state and military honours in their respective villages on Sunday.

People from all walks of life attended the last rites and paid their tributes to the martyrs -- Havladar Prakash Chand, Sepoy Manoj Kumar, Sepoy Vikas Bhardwaj, Havladar Rajesh Kumar, Naib Subedar Rajneesh Singh, Naib Subedar Ashok Kumar and Sepoy Sohan Singh.

The bodies were brought to Chandigarh by a special plane last night and transported by road to villagers of the Jawans.

Himachal Social Welfare and Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram received the bodies at Chandigarh and laid wreath on the coffins on behalf of the State government.

Social Justice and Sainik Welfare Minister Col. (retd.) D.R. Shandil attended the funeral of Sepoy Sohan Singh at his native village Manpur-Devra in Ponta Sahib of Sirmaur district.

The Minister, who accompanied the body from Chandigarh to his village, assured all possible assistance to his family members.

Col. Shandil, who had himself served in the Dogra Regiment, visited the house of Nayak Ashok Kumar of Dakasana village in Haripurdhar, also in Sirmaur district.

Another Minister Kaul Singh Thakur also attended the last rites of Havaldar Prakash Chand and Sepoy Manoj Kumar of Mandi.

A pall of gloom descended on Garili village of Kangra district as hundreds bid farewell to Naib Subedar Rajneesh Singh.

The 6 Dogra Infantry Regiment was to be moved to Chandigarh soon and the majority of soldiers who were recruited from Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir were excited to be moved nearer to their homes, said the family members. “But as luck would have it, only his body has come home,” said Baldev Rana, father of Ashok Kumar.

Meanwhile, the State government has announced a financial assistance of Rs.5 lakh each to the family members of the seven martyrs from the hill State.

Centre to respond to recent attacks on security forces in Northeast: Rijiju | Zee News

"We are taking the recent attacks by terrorist groups in Northeastern states very seriously. We are discussing how to tackle such problems. In Arunachal, the security forces repelled the attack and there were no causalities. The state police and Central forces have to work together to tackle the problem. We are discussing on how to bring peace in the region," Rijiju told mediapersons here this morning.

Cadres of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland - Khaplang faction (NSCN-K) had on Sunday attacked the army camp at Laju in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, the army was alerted of the attack by intelligence inputs and when the militants struck, they were repelled with force. Around 60-70 empty cartridges of AK 47 bullets and two Naphod bombs were recovered from the spot.

This incident comes after an attack on army personnel on June 4 in Manipur, which resulted in the death of 18 soldiers.

ARMY FIGHTS BACK, 2 MILITANTS KILLED IN MANIPUR
Undaunted by the losses suffered, Indian Army launched a massive operation to hunt down the militants who had plotted and executed an ambush in Manipur. The troops from 3 Corps have been braving the harsh terrain and relentlessly pursuing the militants. Two militants has been killed and their bodies recovered with arms and ammunition. The intercepts from militants revealed that few more may have been killed and others are trying to cross over to a neighbouring country. The commanders are on ground monitoring every move and planning operations in a dynamic environment. The perpetrator of the incident will be knocked down at the earliest.

The attack on an army convoy in Manipur that killed 18 soldiers and injured another 15 came at a time when insurgency in the northeast was seen to be waning. In fact, Tripura recently decided to withdraw the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in light of the improved security climate in that state. However, the Manipur attack shows that militant groups continue to pose a threat to the region.

Most of the militants behind the Manipur attack have their bases in neighbouring Myanmar. New Delhi needs to seek Naypyidaw's cooperation in cracking down on the ultras. That said, security operations are only one part of the equation. Insurgency in the northeast cannot be resolved without development. The region's woes stem from a combination of its remote geographical location, poor governance infrastructure and lack of jobs for its youth. The northeast states receive significant financial assistance from the Centre, but this may be a liability as aid becomes a crutch for their limping economies. Add to this the diverse interest groups that profit from this system and the result is deep-rooted corruption that pervades every strata of northeast society.

Manipur ambush: Surrender and rehabilitation policy in northeast put on hold - The Economic Times

NEW DELHI: In a clear message to insurgent groups in the northeast, the Centre is looking at temporarily suspending the surrender and rehabilitation policy in Manipur where rebels killed 18 armymen last week even as a massive crackdown has begun to catch the perpetrators of the attack.

The virtual hold of the surrender policy, sources say, is an extension of a strategy which was adopted in Assam a few months ago to successfully crack down on the Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland. While there are no written orders from the Union home ministry, the number of surrenders this year has drastically gone down, officials say, and this move is part of a larger plan to take down the extortion racket running in the region.

Just 28 ultras have surrendered in the first two months of this year in the northeast, compared with 120 a year earlier. In 2014, as many as 965 militants had surrendered. "We are not taking surrenders," said LR Bishnoi, inspector general of police at the Bodoland Territorial Area District.

A senior MHA official said the authorities were facing trouble from the newly formed United National Liberation Front of Wesea, which has brought together several militant groups in the northeast and carried out attacks on the armed forces in past months. But, he said, there were no blanket bans on surrenders and such matters would be dealt on a case to case basis. "As law and order is a state subject, we have left the decision with the state police who have to work in liaison with the central forces and the Army," the official said.

Army sources also acknowledged the sharp decline in surrenders after the NDA government came to power and seems to have taken a tough stand against kidnapping and extortion operations run by the militant groups.

"We are not taking surrenders and any cadre coming forward is handed over to the police to be arrested. We have not come across any Naga militant willing to surrender." According to the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the MHA, any surrendering militant from Manipur will get Rs 2.5 lakh in the form of a fixed deposit. The person can take a loan for self-employment against the deposit. The surrendered militant is also entitled for a stipend of Rs 4,000 per month for a year. The amounts in other parts of the northeast are Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 3,500.

Indian Army recovers second body of militant killed in Manipur ambush | Zee News

Imphal: A police team of Indian Army said on Monday that they have recovered another body of a militant, who was injured when militants ambushed a convoy of 6 Dogra Regiment on June 4, killing 18 soldiers and injuring 15 others.

Security officials said that the bullet-riddled body was recovered in the jungles of Leibung village, close to Myanmar border, near the ambush site yesterday. Identification of the body will be performed at Imphal.

It is suspected that KYKL (Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup) cadre was left behind in the village after he succumbed to the injuries while being taken back by the insurgents.

The Army had earlier recovered the body of NSCN-K cadre on June 4.

As per communication intercepts, it was a group of about 25-28 insurgents who had carried out the deadly ambush.

It is believed that the group has now divided itself into sub-groups of 4-5 men and are trying to make their way into Myanmar.

It is feared that 2-3 groups could have successfully moved out even though security forces have launched an extensive combing operation.

"There are two routes which can be used to get out of that area. Combing operation has started from both sides of the route and we hope to get some of the attackers," the sources told PTI.

The Army believes that majority of the attackers came from KYKL and rest from Khaplang group of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) and the KCP (Kangleipak Communist Party).

The Army is keen to carry out "joint operations" with Myanmar to take out "camps" across the border, the sources said even as they ruled out any "hot pursuit".

Hot pursuit is a term used when security forces cross borders in search of suspects who have crossed over.

Security sources have admitted that there was an intelligence failure and that a "sense of complacency" could have crept in as no attacks had happened in that area for long.

According to initial reports, there were four vehicles moving in the Moltung area of Chandel district when the ambush took place.

The insurgents had used "lathod guns" (used for firing grenades) along with automatic rifles. The first truck carrying about 5-6 soldiers also had barrels of fuel which exploded taking out the trucks behind it.

The second truck was carrying about 18-19 soldiers while the rest of the about 46 member-strong convoy were in the other trucks.

The bodies of majority of the soldiers were charred completely.
