When we were kids, there used to be super trashy magazines in barber shops, to kill boredom while waiting for your turn. The content was typically spread around the following topics - Ghost sightings, infidelity (jeeja-saali romance was the most common), get rich quick schemes, how to have full control over your husband, miracles and children finding their parents from previous birth.
It was similar to what Hindi news channels show these days. It is only natural that with the evolution of broadcasting, that breed of writers has moved from print to TV. So many sub standard graduates from the cow belt also need employment. It is evident where they are finding it.
