Even that fails with multiple attackers,the key is harsh prosecution of rapist and the fear of it. But in South Asian countries prosecution means nothing to criminals hardly anyone fears it.

Its disappointing that people feel the need to risk their welfare to go outside in the middle of the night when they damn well know that it is dangerous.

agreed, but in the mean time the government is not going to do anything, gotta take protection into your own hands.
Women of India need to take every precaution, keep pepper spray, travel with brother/husband, wear burka, do what they have to to keep themselves safe.
