Man you should come to my own home town and see how much a doctor earns in a government hospital. These doctors should be jailed, they earn more than enough money than an average indian would earn for three months worth of work. My mom studied in Ludhiana, and after that she worked at a government hospital she earned quite well, and never complained about the pay.

there are many Indian members are doctors are here in this forum i hope they can answer you in a better way because they know exact conditions in India but i am here giving a general picture which many doctors face in their life

During YDA strike in Pakistan the young doctors left the emergencies because Govt left them no other option , Govt even did not pay attentiion to their demands for months thats why they are forced to leave OPDs and emergencies but the emergencies and OPDs were not fully closed , senior doctors were not on strike they were on their duties at that time .
Many doctors HOs and PGs work without pay . In Fauji foundation hospital the pay of HOs is 13500 RS per month . is this a justice and many HOs even do their house jobs without any pay in many hospitals .
About last part of post : I agree with you that many doctors are greedy and they dont care about poor patients and that is worst thing . These type of doctors are shame for our profession

Few months back the pay of House Officer was 24,000 almost and if compare it with pay of DEWO driver then you will get you answer .

I understand what you are trying to explain but dude Pay in every profession get increase with time and experience..dewo driver might be earning 15000 rupees as compare to 24000 which a trainee or young doctor is getting but after few years doctor will be getting triple as compare to DEWO driver..All those senior doctors who are making lakh a day was also earning less in early stage of their career. Medical profession should not be a pure business although i understand we all need money for basic needs and luxuries

There is no conscience left in Medical profession.. Now a days its all about money,money,money.. It's not only about these striking docs I have seen this with docs at top notch private medical institutions as well.. They don't care about human being all they care about is money.. sick..

I think the nation had suffered enough from this blackmailing by doctors..Hope something is done very soon. I heard some time ago Govt had plans to train doctors especially for rural areas. The doctor association pressurized the govt to halt this plans saying that Govt plans to produce 'half doctors'.

In engineering if you have a diploma and some years experience, you can apply for bachelor degree. The same should be applied to medical sector for nurses with enough experience. The only way to counter this blackmailing is to mass produce doctors.

It's not really being muck, now a days with the growing economy and development people have gotten a bit greedy. Doctors that I see in US are quite nice and don't think too high of themselves, but doctors in India have a big ego that they are above others. The data the government shows that they pay these doctors xxx amount of money is also not accurate these doctors quite often extract money from the poor, and have their own private practices on the side so their real income is quite larger than what they actually show.

Not as much as the medical field. If you want to study medicine in India in a Pvt Medical College it will set you back 40 to 50 lakhs. On the otherhand you may be spending only a lakh for an MBBS degree in Govt Medical College.

The salary is around 39,000 rupees which is a comparatively high salary in my place even in this inflation hit times and correct me if I am wrong but I think Asst Surgeon is a junior rank, so you can imagine how much the senior positions make.



F1 drivers make way more than an ordinary doctor..some CEOs in India earn more than the Indian president.

You cannot fix salaries on the basis of qualification, but you do it on the basis of market demand.

may be not as much but this does not make medical a unique department . Govt spent on every department according to its requirements ......
Sir you know how many years you have to spend to reach a senior rank ?
5 year MBBS , 1 year house job , 4 years PG training ( if your 1st attempts succeeded ) , ( minimum study for a specialist )

True, Indian doctors surely have a big ego. I have seen poor people standing in front of their doctors as if they are seeing an incarnation of God himself. Its really sad that doctors don't care for this people.

Engineering and medical are two different things you cant compare them . If engineer did some mistake he may correct it but in medical you dont have second chance . you know how much people died due to malpractice and by the hands of Quacks ?
You are promoting quacks to kill patients and dont want to negotiate with doctors .
without negotiating with docs and without listening to their demands how can you decide that the demands are not genuine

Dont get over emotional , 1st listen the demands if they are not genuine then reject their demands but if you will not listen and say these things then condition will become more critical .

if you want my personal opinion then i will say that if Govt pay me 39,000 as a junior doctor plus yearly increment ( which is a procedure ) then i will say its a good pay to start with . But i want to make it clear that Indian doctor can shed a better light on all this . Where is Dr.noob ninja and drcrazee ?

I am not promoting any quacks(if you can dare call nurses as quacks). A nurse's education in India is of 4 years and all I am saying is that with a little bit more training she/he can become a doctor. I want govt to seriously to look into this matter.
