MCIWS is the INSAS replacement for the entire IA (more than a million INSAS are waiting to be inducted). However the MCIWS is some 3-5 years away and will come under the F-INSAS program.

This foreign multi-cal procurement is for a few select units (RR, Para Brigades and such ) but NOT going to kill the MCIWS in any way shape or form.

Thats crazy... 5years for a rifle????? We are so lazy.....I wish we will be put under sanctions!!!! With sanctions Iran doing wonders!!!

i get quite confused here why India can't produce a decent rifle when they had reached to Mars?

No they are not. AKs (and its variants) and INSAS (in limited service) for them. Tavors are purely for SFs in the Valley.

And you must be living behind the Mars......

India has been using the INSAS family for over 15 years now and will continue to use it for several more years until it gets replaced by a multi cal rifle.

This tender is meant to replace rifles like the AK`s which are used by selected units like the RR`s.

i think we have hks for the SFs and SPG and SG. these are big tenders..are those hks multi caliber ? 5.56 & 7.62 ? then i don't know..

I like MCIWS but i find it quite odd that there is only one rail of Piccatiny rail.They should have added more afterall it is the gun we are going to see atleast till 2040

There's three railings. One on top, bottom, and smaller side one. The one on top doesn't extend to the fold able iron sight though, which it should.

What people have to keep in mind is that these pics are the first few prototypes, there will most definitely be modifications. We havent seen the production version.
