What's new

POF BW-20 Battle Rifle (7.62x51mm) & POF BW-21 Carbine

It'll be interesting to see POF's AR development work. I think PK-18 was a good start, but with a few more years in the oven, it could result in an effective 7.62x51 mm rifle.
What I like is that this team is trying and experimenting and by all indications knows it’s domain. Like beyond just a job, they seem to be gun enthusiasts. So hope something solid comes out of their effort.

Absolutely. The key is giving these guys resources. I'm sure they could invest more in design if given the resources to produce new materials, contract more designers, try different mechanisms, etc.

Not a single a good picture of the weapon? What a pathetic state of affairs....:suicide:

Explain why a pathetic state of affairs, if you didn’t get a picture you liked?
For God sake! Its an assault rifle, a small arm not a tactical nuke. Pakistan armed forces should change their policy of silence and secrecy. Every other country show cases these kinds of developments. Small arma are treated like celebrity everywhere in the world.

Who gives a rat a$$ about your opinion. Clear pictures were posted many months ago. Maybe it has not reached that level of maturity. It doesn’t make it “a
Pathetic state of affairs”

This is that PK 18. They have changed the name.
It's definitely not the PK-18 the Army Chief General Bajwa was seen with. That rifle was essentially an M4 platform chambered in 7.62 NATO round.

The new rifle appears to be a different design and looks like to be a weird hybrid of G3 and MPT-76 rifle combo. Two most obvious features are non reciprocating charging handle and some better recoil mitigating system. Firing simple G3 in that manner would have kicked back the shooter a lot and automatic fire is also seems to be better controlled in the video. 7.62x51 inherently packs a lot of punch and recoil.

Pleased to see POF doing some actual and practical R&D and improving upon their Homegrown designs incrementally. This rifle as depicted in the video shows a lot of promising features rivaling the current global competition in its category. It would eventually all depend upon how it performs under the Army's torture tests.

As far as I know that's PK-18 the COAS is holding, and it has entirely different lower as compared to the rifle shown in the recent video dubbed as BW-20. The PK-18 COAS which COAS is holding has M4 style lower chambered in 7.62 NATO. But the rifle in the video doesn't resemble with it and the raw form and finish of rifle in the video shows that it's been tested during the development and prototyping phase IMHO

Yup its a direct impingement system above just like an M4 unlike the rifle shown in the video which seems to have a different gas operating system.
