NEW DELHI: Indian Air Force's Mirage 2000 has crashed at HAL airport, Bengaluru. Reports are coming in that two pilots have perished in this unfortunate incident.

The aircraft was being flown by two test pilots of the Indian Air Force. Squadron Leader Siddhartha Negi and Squadron Leader Samir Abrol were taking the plane for an acceptance test flight after it had been upgraded by the HAL there. Both pilots were from Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment.
A rescue operation was launched by the authorities. One of the two pilots died after managing to eject from the plane but he fell on the debris itself. The other pilot was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries, senior IAF sources told ANI.

The IAF statement states that the Mirage 2000 trainer aircraft was on an acceptance sortie after upgrade by HAL and an investigation into the cause of accident is being ordered.
The crash comes barely four days after an Indian Air Force's Jaguar fighter plane crashed in Kushinagar, UP, on January 28.

Indian Air Force Rejects to Fly Older Aircrafts Asking for New Aircrafts from Its Government

RIP for the pilot , but Mirage 2000 is still a good Air craft .

My thoughts for the families of the two pilots who have passed away, RIP.
Planes can be acquired, skilled pilots are gems that once lost are very hard to replace.

A good plane that is old is useless becos airframe has reached it's limit. No matter how much upgrade, it will still poses a dangers.

Mirage Airframe might be old but its still very potent air craft, and some people will compare them to block 52 F-16's which is a very good Fighter .

Hi, I think u do not understand. How can a old airframe poses a dangers or potent to enemies? There is a huge amount of risk pulling a high G of it to avoid a missile or even engage in high intensity dogfight.

Unless u are talking about a newly build mirage-2000 off the factory line but from what I know. Dassault has long close down it's line. There is no newly build mirage 2000. It's quite useless to reinvest in old airframe with new tech.

IAF Mirage-2000s are old but cannot be sidelined in India-Pakistan context.

As per my info, an oleo strut came off on the takeoff roll and the place crashed before take off. Had nothing to do with airframe failure. It was the fault of poor technical engineering work.

RIP....how low did they eject? And is that the reason why 1 of the pilots landed in the debris....or is that just terrible luck??

Has nothing to do with being good. It came out of maintenance/upgrading the aircraft was torn to pieces and then put back. Chances of something going wrong increases substantially
