they can get caught if the money is more than expected like some smuggler or black money when they return to bank,bank will ask from where you got that money ? for sure black money
if they return they can get caught ,if they cant money is waste

You can only exchange 500 and 1000 notes through banks only. When its a lump sum amount bank will ask about the source of income

you can deposit all your 500 and 1000 rs notes in any of your banks and postoffices with your proofs by dec 31
