India urges France to advocate for a ban on weapon sales by EU to Pakistan

The French may try that but this move has been preemptively countered but it depends on the sweetners India throws on the side. They are willing to NOT buy the most suitable system and go for one from a deciding vote EU country if it means this resolution is passed. However, Pakistan has its support as well so it will likely come down to the numbers and the money India is willing to throw at them.

The weapon Pakistan needs is in our possession. Cope gangoo.

Knowing the Indian procurement “strategy” it will be 1 carrier of superhornets and 1 carrier of Rafale just to make sure Pakistan gets nothing.
Though I respect your views & opinion, however, from the conversation I had with guys fown at BOEING during the Airshow didn't seem too optimistic about their being any hope as one was quoted saying "...already in French Camp". And India is too smart to fall for the 'End-user Agreement' trap after witnessing its potential setbacks in the event there ever was a downfall between the two states.

They may go for some other Defence-related toys like Drones, Choppers, Transport Aircrafts, Radars and do on, but will continue to buy Jets from France a.k.a India's New B!tch.

Pakistan should use every (what little) lobbying capability we have in the EU to make sure any attempt is dead on arrival. Unfortunately, our public image is awful and we have very little in the way of any natural constituency.

If France moves anything like this, we should not hold back in pointing out via MEPs and other member states that they're being lobbied by their own arms industry to pick fights in the subcontinent. There's a real divide in the EU parliament between core states like France and Germany, and the peripheral and member states and the East. If Indians can build a lobby strong enough to move with a lot of effort, we should consolidate a lobby in the East and also with countries like Italy and Sweden who have had business with us.

At the same time, fight fire with fire, damage the credibility of anyone who makes these attempts by your own lobbying and PR efforts, India's international image is better than ours but they've given us some ammo in the last few years worth starting to expend. And of course, any country who wants to sell themselves for a Dassault contract should also face some flack, lobbying charges and weaponisation of EU embargoes at the behest of arms companies will not go down well amongst the EU's ideologue MEPs and people.

Fight back, don't take anything lying down.

lobbying is very effective and Expensive game ... Pak can't afford. But only Kashmiri groups in EU can work. They have much more access to MPs then GOP.

France can’t do much regarding influencing Europe, they’re ignored mostly. Next thing is that nations seek influence and sales are part of that.
It’s hilarious India runs to everyone not to sell weapons to Pakistan, which more or less says we can’t fight Pakistan on an even keel.
So what, @waz? There is China. China is almost on par with the West technologically.

Pakistan is now getting J-10Cs by March. Pakistan does not need Europe.

I agree with you, that our reputation in the "West" is not that good. That is because we try to behave like a sovereign nation unlike Japan which is a slave to USA.

Sometimes I wish Pakistan would side with China on everything. But of-course, some members would not agree with me and would say then China would take advantage of us.

Or, do military deals with China and joint ventures with them. That way we do not have to rely on Europe or USA for anything.
Use the best of the technology China has. That would just be much more intelligent.

Their real goal is to derail Pakistan’s GSP+ status renewal efforts.
