India Upgrades Military to Match China

It cost india too much by doing like this, but still reasonable now. You will enjoy reverse engineering as long as you get that level.
dude India has now come ahead of reverse engineering stage. We have developed pretty much everything we need for our forces(maybe not best stuff in world).
a 4.5 gen plane, 3rd generation tank, missiles of all kinds and ranges, ABM, nuclear submarine, awacs, aesa radar, stealth navy ships. Path for our future developments has already been set.
AMCA, ASAT, FMBT, tejas MK3, AGNI 5 and more long range missiles etc etc.. whenever we need help all we have to do is make a call to isrealis or russians, there is no need for reverse engineering now.

reverse engineering is still a good strategy say if a F-22 landed on our lap I would be all up for unlocking it's stealth and other secrets :)

Good to see India spending 10 billions USD and another 10 billions on weapons procurement amid current account deficit, soaring inflation, large corporation-Ambani etc deficit needing Chinese bailout. Hope this would ruin and collapse India, just as USSR had been ruined in its arms race with the US. India will remain the world No 1 weapons importer in the forthcoming decade and no country will be able to match this. It is the only ranking where we can find India as NO 1. India is now the first client in weapons purchase for the US, Israel, Russia, France, Italy etc. Keep it on India and China will never match all these procurements and this very praising No 1 position will remain unchallenged given that China is under weapons embargo by the US and EU. Keep it on India and congrats for being the NO 1 world weapons importer. The corrupt politicians will become richer and good news for the one billion poor.

How you work that out when we only spend over 2% of our budget on defence? and all these deals we sign will result in money being being put back to our domestic industry

It is a cheap and effective way to do reverse engineering. It's the only way to progress without technology transferr. You know Russian is always bring out lofty demand if they have chance.

US and Russia did the same with German technology after WW2 but for India I feel the moment has passed we can get tech transfer from deals like MRCA because Europe needs the $$ and they are more despo to win so will give us more in return.

MMRCA deal a shot in the arm for industry

* On airframe side, technology relating to composites, super plastics, metal treatment and processes such as robotic riveting are crucial.

* On the engine side Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), titanium casting, special coatings such as microflon, graphoil, processes such as radio crystallography, advance forging technologies are expected to be transferred to Indian companies.

* On the avionics side, state of the art radar, mission computer, head-mounted displays, auto pilot, moving maps and technology relating to inertial navigation systems, flight instrumentation, communication systems, low-intensity conflict electronic warfare systems are expected to be transferred.

* On aggregates, technology relating to landing gears, fuel systems, servo hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, heat exchangers, ejection seats are likely to be transferred.

This is some of the items we are seeking to get from the MRCA deal with France.

when we have neighbours like you what can you expect....what India is doing is totally justified for us.

You pay for learn, that's all for it.

See now with the global financial situation as it is this will result in more fierce competition among arms suppliers to win orders, it's like the buyers are more in control as they have the hard currency to purchase weapons. Also in the case of India the US has lifted pretty much all the sanctions put in place after we conducted the N blast so getting access to dual-use technology will be easier to procure as a result of it.

yOU DO KNOW THAT WE WILL NUKE EVERY MAJOR CITY OF CHINA IN RESPONSE AND I WILL ENSURE THAT YOUR HOMETOWN IS ONE OF THEM
COZ I CAN

no you can't. indian IRBMs will be shot down over Tibet, of those that fly in the right direction/don't crash down.

Chinese IRBMs won't have the same problem.

It is a very good method as long as it is done in secret.....

India has no mid course ballistic missile defense and Indian IRBMs are far inferior to Chinese ones.

Chinese mid course ballistic missile is non existent or existing in ccp propaganda or useless. Remember Churchill said,
"China,Glass and Reputation is easily broken and never mended"

for missiles,

Indian IRBMs are FAR FAR better then Chinese ones. So ours is twice more better then urs...:agree::agree:

10 Billion is Pea nuts. The deal will become much Bigger.

On the Contrary - Pakistan is a Ideal state with peace and Tranquility they spend only 5% of their GDP on Defence.
