The volte face of the BJP is mysterious. Where was the need to rush into a conciliatory invitation for the swearing-in ceremony and unseemly haste in agreeing to talk? Nations do not exist in compartments and discontinuity . A very balanced politician and not given to rhetoric was PM Manmohan Singh and his government had decided not have any talks with Pakistan until the handlers of Mumbai carnage were brought to justice. What was wrong in that assessment that the BJP rushed into a mood of bonhomie with Pakistan. It is not a strong signal to PAkistan, but an admission of failure of first steps of diplomacy of the present government.
 
Good decision. High time both sides accept the reality and do away with pretenses. Respect for Modi govt just went up in my heart

It has to engage Pakistan, no doubt but only on a case to case basis. India has already turned the massive infiltration in Kashmir to a trickle, the leverage Pakistan had to engage India is slipping.

If Pakistan so wishes to engage India as a irritant then it is completely up to them, India will not care much.

Take care of your own load shedding first of epic proportions, then, try to meet IMF/WB installments on time to not default, then, behave properly with in the international community by not harboring the world famous terrorists inside your courtyard (a la Osama) and denying it altogether with loudspeaker a la Musharaf....

Maybe they have maybe they have not but our Borders are manned much better than the 90s.. However, I doubt that Pakistan will leave the only weapon it has against India.

by the way even Indians agreed on numerous accounts that infiltration from across the border has reduced significantly.
