India to Test Fire Indo-Israeli LR-SAM/Barak-8 on-board INS Kolkata in 2015

Not really. THey suggest that Barak 1 can be launched from the VLS that can also accommodate Barak 8. Barak 8 is yet to come available. THey suggests that while Barak 8 is not operational yet, these ships will have Barak 1. Irrespective of numbers of missiles. THeyre still are only 32 VL cells visible on these ships.

Dont you think, for a 7000 tonne Destroyer, 32 Barak-8 is very low figure, mainly when it going to protect future CBG during saturation attack.

My argument is that, may be, BDL production remain low of Barak-8, during first 2 yrs, maybe until 2017. So, that will be ridiculous to add empty cells in the ship, that not receive its missile.

Maybe in first minor refit, they add the addition 16 cells for Barak-8.

If at present Barak 8 is not available, you migh outfit the class with 32 Barak 1 (4x8) and then lateron refit the same or a larger number of (long) VL cells for Barak 8. You would need close-ups of the VLUs for Barak to compare with pics from e.g. P15 and ex-Hermes carrier to see what launchers there are. This would still not rule out the possibility that Barak 8 VLU can also launch the Original Barak (but I doubt it: round versus square cells)
