Off topic but Being on this forum for over a year, I have noticed this unusual fear among some Bangladeshi members that India has intent of attacking/or absorbing Bangladesh.
Let me reassure that India has no plans of attacking Bangladesh, Bangladesh doesn't pose any large security threat towards India.
Only if Indian economy would have allowed it , we would have supported extending full work permits for Bangladeshi citizens just like nepali citizens which would have solved illegal immigration.
After death of Mujibur Rehman, unfortunately India - Bangladesh relations deteriorated, I wish India would have handled the situation better.
For the future I would like to see Bangladesh as a close neutral ally of India and China, and benefit from both of the growing economies.
Bangladesh and India share a very rich cultural heritage, it is very important that India should facilitate more people to people contact and provide support to Bangladesh in areas of higher education and IT.
India and Bangladesh should work on better immigration control regime to ensure there is no illegal transit from both side.
India being a larger economy must provide imperative in conflict resolution w.r.t bangladeshi issues regarding water and geographical disputes. Bangladesh should also co-operate in helping india deal with insurgent groups that often take shelter in bangladeshi areas.
Often some members dream about Indo-pak relations being like US -canada. I rathar feel, Indo Bangladesh relation can be made stronger than US-Canada relations.
