I agree but looking at the IRAF and the SAM capability of USA i will safely say that they can achieve Air Superiority with 72 hours if the war break out .. there is no reason not to use close host as Operational Bases as Iran is no match for US might.. in case of China i agree with you , bases with a bit far will be more better cause China does not have huge long range Bombing Capability ..

ever heard of Pasni base? - that should be less that few hundred miles to chabar or even less than 50 miles to gwadar.

btw - US has Military bases in Pakistan as well. I dont see that affecting Pakistan- china relations?
