Who are these low life posters who bring religion into everything? So much BS about some fake supreme being that was born out of a clever scripture who shows mercy to the ones that follow him, and punishes those who don't - how insecure of him/her. You should be ashamed of yourselves for even letting your thoughts wander in that direction. I seriously pity anyone who's grown up in a society where religion reigns supreme, and humanity and kindness are thrown out the back door/come second. It is disgusting, to say the least.

Our Army Jawans and other forces are doing a stellar job. More power to them.

You are right religion ultimately aims at signifying qualities like kindness and mercy and they should never be abandoned. I really wish that all the people in the affected area are safe soon and a heavier loss is prevented.

My uncle is ex IA (7 PARA) and he spoke to some of his old IA pals in the regular army who have been deployed in the rescue efforts. Apparently many of the btns who have been deployed were just back from a 2 month long exercise and were tired and battered but on receiving the call they were alert and raring to go and help out- respect to these guys, heroism and spirit that almost defies logic!



+ I do hope that the civilian defence/rescue forces are raised to a level where they are in a position to handle such rescue efforts almost independent of the Indian armed forces. I mean isn't this what the NDRF is for (even though these are just CAPFs on deputation and given specialised training)? I understand that in these extreme cases no nation on the planet has civilian authorities who can handle it without external/military assitence. But it feels like 90% of the work is being done by the IA/ITBP.

Almost inevitable when you have pvt/civilian pilots and machines effectively doing the work of military pilots/machines. These pilots are not going to have any sort of rescue experience and will be pretty clueless when it comes to working in these conditions. Fair enough- it is not their job.

Once again the centre and states should procure specialised aviation assets to deal with these situations with suitabiilly trained pilots.

Just saw a interview with an IA Lt Gen who said PARA SF/Airborne have been used to rescue survivors in the most remote and isolated locations where road transport is non-existent. He said Paratroopers (Airborne not SF in this case I'm guessing) para-jumped from helos into one of these locations as fast-roping/slithering was not possible. And then these Paratroopers will be carrying the civilians on their backs (along with their gear) to a safe(r) LZ just-

In another incident Paratroopers rescued ~70 semi-conscious survivors from the middle of a river and got them MEDIVAC'd to a hospital.


Proud to have a family member who has served in the PARAs.



All these rescue workers- CAPFs,IA, IAF, NDRF etc all deserve more than they will get. My are the epitome of unsung heroes. A thankless job indeed. SALUTE!

Today army has rescued more than 40 thousands people till 3PM. So total rescued are about 70K and 30K are still stranded. Simply great to see their quickness!! They have formed air bridge in Gauchaar and using about 55 helis from defence and 5 helis from pvt companies. Sad thing is 11 more pvt helis are being used by local MLAs there but not for rescue purpose.

yeah ... the locals are extremely happy about this..... Locals are saying that the army was god sent...they were very polite very helpful thorough out the rescue
