Well , in short, MMS and a couple of other influential economists such as Montek Singh are perceived to have deep links with the World Bank - IMF.

Contrary to impressions, MMS is just a second rate economics professor from ordinary Indian Universities, and not a world class economist - hardly the qualification for becoming first the Governor of RBI, the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister.

He can neither speak, nor win even a Municipal election

His rise parallels the IMF sponsored opening of Indian economy .

India's socialist schemes are the biggest in the entire world (I heard of FSB and NEGRA on this forum), but where are the productivity reforms that will allow the country to pay for them?

Everything is given free, but all of it is paid for with borrowed money and debt and deficit. The result is that India has by FAR the largest trade deficit and fiscal/budget deficit in the developing world.

Once & if this govt is thrown out
I don't think these schemes will go away easily but if NDA & Modi comes to power they will focus all of their energy on economic Development
