Incorrect. CPEC offers Pakistan all the connectivity with Central Asia, Russia that Pakistan might need. The motorways, highways in [refer to red line marking Islamabad, Pakistan to Kashgar, China] CPEC northern route like Hazara Motorway, Karakorum Hughway will link Pakistan with Kashgar. Rest is easy peasy as Kashgar is gateway to the entire Eurasian landmass. Please refer to map below -

You often hear about Pakistan being in a strategic location. Well there is a reason for that. Notice some of the CPEC route to Kashgar already has Russian script on it's road signage in Northern Pakistan. This should tell you something.

Hazara Motorway - en route to Kashgar, China.

I think you pretty well know that those running the country in Pakistan might talk religion but they certainly don't get intoxicated by it. PM IK and COAS Bajwa's tight grip on athiest republic in Beijhing should jog your mind a bit or so I should think.

Please correct me if I am wrong but isn't Khunjerab Pass closed from November to April?

And also during monsoon at times due to landslide?

Afterall its the world's highest international crossing.

Lastly, isn't a hard terrain an invitation to your enemies to disrupt this so called strategic trade route?

. . . . . . . .
But it still has to pass via Khunjerab Pass

I see your map is aligning with the one present here.

National highway N-35.

From what is written in wikipedia, it seems Raikot to Khunjerab Pass and Khunjerab Pass itself are still part of this new reconstructed highway. The wikipedia states that there are no plans to upgrade Khunjerab Pass itself.

But then wikipedia is often out of date. Do you have some more recent articles that has plans of upgrading the Pass itself?

Buddy massive infrastructure projects are being completed for total connectivity

What dont you understand about CPEC?

Were you under the impression they were just going to use dirt lanes or old passes
Please look at my post above.

And feel free to post articles or other news about upgrade to Khunjareb Pass. We can then update wikipedia as well.

I don't have local news from Pakistan. If you have local Pakistan based news covering CPEC in detail with regard to connectivity and its year round operation, feel free to post.

Indeed. Back in 1960s the route would need four wheel drive and take week. Then it was improved by 1980s. Today it takes 24 hours. Some sections of the route are now motorway [Hazara] and others are being upgraded by tunneling etc.

The fact is as we move forward the route is being improved. The Chinese have built a rail line over the Tibetan plateau and I don't think Kunjerab Pass is much of a hurdle compared to what they have done there. It's all a question of time. At some point the road will one day be all motorway [sections already have been built] and even over the horizon a rail line will follow. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khunjerab_Railway

Dont look to wiki

Massive projects are underway up and down the country

Some are completed, some will finish in the next few months or years
Some over the next decade or even longer

Alot of strategic thinking has gone into this
