New Delhi: Reacting strongly to reports that China has in its recent map shown Arunachal Pradesh as its territory, India on Saturday said "cartographic depiction" does not change reality on the ground and asserted that Arunachal was an integral part of the country.

Asked about recent China maps which show disputed areas in Arunachal and South China Sea as its own, the Spokesperson in the External Affairs Ministry said, "The cartographic depictions do not change the reality on the ground.

"The fact that Arunachal Pradesh in integral and inalienable part of India has been conveyed to Chinese authority at several occasions including at the very highest level."

He also indicated that this may be raised by the Indian delegation, headed by Vice President Hamid Ansari, currently in China to participate in an event to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Panchsheel or Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

"It is normal practice to raise all issues of bilateral concerns," the Spokesperson said when asked if Ansari will raise it during his meetings with the Chinese leadership.

According to reports, China in its recent maps has shown disputed areas in Arunachal and South China Sea as its own.

Asked about reports of fresh incursions by Chinese troops in Ladakh region, the Spokesperson neither confirmed nor denied such incident and merely said Indian soldiers guarding country's borders were capable to secure our land.

China is right afterall, even though loooong ago.India started it and China isn't someone who would take such steps unless it has something solid at hand and anyways at least china can keep the population happy ..which indian govt always fails to do.So a merger with china would not be bad for the people

They think showing a bullshit "Made In China" map recognized by no one will "intimidate" us and change ground realities. Instead the govt. will push even more towards Japan and make moves like increasing defence allocation by 20%.

Also such a move will be suicide for China as we can choke them of their resources in Malacca. Even yangs know that IOR has ben dominated by India even more so after our recent modernization efforts. USN fears Iran in persian gulf and those chaps have only FAC and old british 1960 -70s era destroyers and frigates. Imagine Asia's 2nd most powerful Naval force oing up against China which is not even a 1/10 of USN. It will be a bloodbath for them.

the moment they initiate an offensive against us ... pakistanis will also jump in ,honestly it wont be an easy task to defend against two strong nuclear armed nations that is why i say ...the best thing would be to make up a Nato like alliance with the japs viets and the rest of them ...we must not hold back.. china will try to dominate and we must be prepared !

New Delhi, June 28: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has condemned a new map unveiled by China that showed Arunachal Pradesh as part of it’s south Tibet territory. Tuki told ANI, “What China is doing, is not a new thing. They have made such claims before also, but Arunachal Pradesh is a part of India. We condemn the claim of Arunachal Pradesh as China’s territory. We want that government should talk to China and look for a solution.”

The new map, which was unveiled recently, not only shows Arunachal Pradesh as its territory but also makes controversial claims about the South China Sea, which may trigger outrage by some other Asian countries like Vietnam and Philippines.

Notably, Vice President Hamid Karzai is right now in China on a bilateral visit to strengthen relations between the two neighbours.
